Hm.....not sure if you've taken soul burst's x3 extra damage multiplier into consideration? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) IMO the problem for soul burst is that you need at least 3 turns to set up its effect over all monsters.

QUOTE(rpgman1 @ Jan 21 2012, 03:15) Generally yes, but you can get some great deals in the WTS section. I ended up getting a Superior Shade Helmet of Negation for 5k, but the Shadowdancer version went for over 500k. Phase is generally expensive, but you can get some deals from it.
I've seen my fair share of 250K-500K killer bids way beyond the item's actual value. It's from people who generally have got so much loot and so many credits that they could simply let the auction go, contact the winner and offer 1/5th of that sum and a slightly inferior item of the same kind to get the item they wanted and let the other one with something almost as good to go by...

QUOTE(varst @ Jan 21 2012, 14:51) @buktore I agree that character stat/auras now has minimal effect on the character's build. The quality of equipment dominates, but isn't that desired for Tenb?
It's OK if quality of equipment dominates. It's the combination of many factors that make it rather pointless to discuss about strategy and make it rather boring. I tried to write a not-so-long paragraph here explaining what are these factors ... I failed. So maybe later... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) Noted that I didn't said that how it works now is 'bad' ... It just... a bit boring. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) ........ I recorded an unstaged, real-world scenario keylog of the first 30 rounds of T@T-BT that shows every action I made for the sake of research and reference ... I might as well just post it here to give them mage something to laugh at, if not horrified by the sight. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) ... Why the wiki recommends getting Black->Rainbow->White for mages? Isn't Black->White->Rainbow more beneficial?

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) I think one of the reason is that we have pretty high level (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Accept that; almost every game will get quite boring after you've developed all the options. Even simcity will get quite boring after you filled the whole city with building. And that's some interesting keylog, probably mages' will be full of green numbers. White perk is easier to get, but rainbow perk has 50% bonus on mp/sp regen, which can be quite handy.

QUOTE((Cheater) Tiap @ Jan 21 2012, 15:02) Waiting 150 levels just to Soul Burst Real Life on Normal seems a bit overkill, especially if he's only interested in the 50k clear bonus (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) of course that's the only reason (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) okagesama de :3 QUOTE 568 11 You gain 50057 Credits! 568 10 You gain 6416 EXP! 568 9 Your HP and MP have been fully restored! 568 8 Arena Token Bonus! [Fine Shade Gauntlets of the Fleet] 568 6 Real Life dropped [Black T-Shirt] 568 5 You are Victorious! thanks to inappropriate elemental prof, my MM deals only 300-600 damage while poison contributing 121 damage per RL turn. wasting few godly mana pot and some scroll of swiftness (to stack with haste). 2 scroll of life and an infusion of gaia wasted in process due to my limited knowledge of those items (hey, it's my first time using scrolls & infusions). anyway the 50k clear bonus (and of course the experience in dealing with such boss) is good enough for wasting those consumable in process.

that's why i suggested DWing (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) just had to hold down numpad 1 and refresh the status procs on myself/him would take too long to MM him down IMO but that seems to be what most people do since they're anxious for that 50k. impervious vs resistant (although I guess 150 levels is a tad overkill (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) soul burst is the fastest RL killer hands down. i guess you can say i speak from experience (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I'm with a considerable high burden ( I think) right now, and since I've been having trouble to defeat anything >4x without wasting my full mana into healling, I believe this might be the cause. Right now I have 50 burden x 110 AS, any idea of what I could do to improve? I'm already using leather equipment. Maybe unequip something? dump STR and pump the exp into WIS. also, DW is *slightly* better than what you're using at this point.
things are going to take long to kill at your level, though. it'll get better around level 110.

try maging. rather than how people often try to factionalize and follow melee/mage like a religion (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) try it. you might enjoy it?

Hm....as bunker buster have said, and picking some better weapon/armors As a light melee, it's better to use mace for two-handed or club for DW. Stun works better than bleeding at difficult arenas. Also pick some kevlar/shade; kevlar of protection should be a cheap, and if you have more credits you can buy some shade of fleets.

@ aloc1234
Get yourself a decent shield and use 1H for a while until you managed to acquired a better armor. Try using 2H from time to time until you feel comfortable enough to switch back to it.
You could try DW instead of 1H. But it's a bit more complicate and still a bit unreliable at your lv. The most visible bonus is probably the increase accuracy, which lead to less frustration. You may like it better if this is what you like.

You need decent equipment to mage, it's not exactly a state secret. There's only so much we can do to help people before they have to go buy expensive stuff.
