Slaughter is at least 2X as good.
So, assuming a helmet of balance gives 1.5% better damage than a helmet of protection a slaughter one gives 3-3.5% more than a protection helmet. (true values are probably a bit lower than that)
Savage is only marginably better with balance, so I would assume it's equally as good with both suffixes.

I'd continue. At lv 7 you have to use 4 shards already, so you'll have to add only one. At this point, why not gambling?

Make do with exquisite or some cheap ass magnificent. Try to look for stuff in FreeShop.

Use what you can at your level... Rapier, exquisite if you can't find anything better. Go for the best rapier that you can afford and use. Don't soulfuse it.

It is the worst part of the game and every novice came through it.

Sadly, but current balance of the game has that problem and there is very little you can do it (because most shop-keepers are high-level players and they are selling their drops that correlate their levels).

Just use the weapon you can afford and suits you best in your current level. Do not be shy to use any other weapon but rapier until you find one decent rapier - preferably Axe or Shortsword.

In my case right until level ~350 I have used Legendary Shortsword.
Then I accidentally dropped pretty bad Legendary Rapier and stick with it.
Then about level ~380 I have found in bazaar (yes, in bazaar) Legendary Rapier with ADB 42% and level 489 - I bought it, waited until I be level 389 and soulfused it.

In short - use whatever you can afford and find - occasionally check WTS-section for good rapier (and other equipment) and when you will find something good - buy it.
On your level, I think, Exquisite or low-tier Magnificent quality would be enough, Legendary is a bit too earlier.

btw, if you are looking for rapier, then your ultimate choice would be "Ethereal"-prefix (or Demonic/Hallowed are good too, but they are for special cases) and "of slaughter"-suffix, but once again - this is an ultimate choice, and until you will be high-level stick with whatever good you will find.

No rapiers aren't the "ultimate" thing at your level. It is at a very high level because then the monsters have a high pysical mitigation.
In your case, a shortsword will do.

I do have stuff in my shop for players around your level, but it's currently closed until saturday.

I've noticed that the overwhelming majority of equipment on the market is in the upper 300's to 500 region. Which mostly tells me that the game has a lot of players sitting around at max level, and the next largest group is people in the 300+ area working their way to cap.

As such, very little equipment of my level is on the market. This makes it hard to get an idea of what a fair price would be to sell equipment that is dropping from my grind, but which isn't useful to me. I'd imagine there are other players in the 200's who'd be interested in what I have, since they can't use the stuff that is in most shops. So while I'm at this level and getting gear drops, I may as well try to tap into this market.

So, here is what I have so far. Mostly superior and exquisite gear. Any advice on what is junk not worth bothering with, and what sort of price to expect for the not-so-junk?

Does anybody know how much one level of Butcher adds to a weapon's ADB? I know Fatality for example adds 2 points of base to Critical Damage and Overpower adds 4 points to Counter-Parry, but can't find what it is for Butcher.

+2%. you'll have a final ADB of:

base_ADB * ( 1 + 0.02 * Butcher_level )


note that since it's referred to base value, every level adds the same amount.
