Well, he seemed to be quite bent on reducing Stamina by a lot, so I guessed it was under 10. Under 80 is understandable, plus you burn your daily Stamina income just from doing all the Arenas (not that I have the time for it, though).

What are the sweet levels to keep your Stamina under 80? I might try if I'm still in the range, as I've already got all, or most, the skills I need and it isn't like I'm in a hurry to level.

For my part, I considered that it was useless to keep "breaking" when I reached lvl420 or so, when it comes to equipment drops. My very slow pace allowed to max ut my trainings quite early, which resulted in a fair amount of drops that I have been able to sell for a nice price. When it comes to the speed at which I clear challenges, I started being rather stable (or rather, stopped getting slower as I levelup) around Lvl440, so this is where I released the brakes and did all the XP training, stars and all the stuff.

The entry for the ability Stronger Spirit reads "Decreases the amount of damage required to make Spirit Shield kick in, as well as how much spirit is consumed when it does."

I'm curious about the bolded part. At tier 0, it converts about 72 damage to 1 spirit point when a monster hits me for 50% of my health. At tier 5, it again converts about 72 damage to 1 spirit point when a monster hits me for 20% of my health. I was assuming the number would go up as my tiers got higher. As in, my character would convert more damage per spirit point, making spirit consumption more efficient.

Died for the first time in a long time in the arena today, since my spirit points were drained at a quicker pace than I could recover to keep Spark of Life up. Not sure if Spirit Shield is necessary for my mage build.

Basically, my question is, shouldn't Spirit Shield convert more damage per spirit point consumed as the tiers get higher? Is Spirit Shield even that useful?

Good question! First of all: the in-game descriptions are often incorrect. They have not always been updated. The wiki is up to date though. It's a complex formula, which can be found here: https://ehwiki.org/wiki/Spells#Supportive

In my personal experience as a mage, spirit shield is essential to survive hard battles. But feel free to experiment!

well, it's complicated - which makes it hard to describe correctly in a way that everybody understands it.

1. if you play PFUDOR arenas from the second page of the arena's, you won't get anything under Superior.
2. if you play PFUDOR DWD, you get a magnificent or higher as end bonus drop
3. If you play FFUDOR 2nd page arena's, except for DWD, you will get at least a superior as end bonus drop
4. If you play FPUDOR 1st page arena's, you will get at least superior during the random drops in battle
5. if you play PFUDOR 1st page arean's, the end bonus drop is at least average
6. if you play RE/IW/GF at PFUDOR, your equipment drops are at least superior

so yeah both wiki posts are correct, only the first could maybe mention that you can't get averages on PFUDOR except for 1st page arena end bonus drops....

Thanks for the clarification, I think the "random" was the key word, after all. Perhaps just needs some rephrasing for more clear description.

It probably depends on your playstyle, but for me as 1h when I only had 2 IA, I used spark of life and protection. Swapping protection for spirit shield is probably also viable, but I preferred to manually cast that before I got my third.
