QUOTE(hitokiri84 @ Nov 25 2009, 03:37) I think anything you try is a lost cause. I did a flimsy item on Battletoads for 80 rounds and still didn't get anything worthwhile.
This is the problem: Quality = Initial Roll + ( Round Bonus + Monster Bonus ) * Difficulty Modifier * Luck of the Draw Luck of the Draw and Difficulty Modifier only affect the quality bonus, not the initial roll, and the fact that higher difficulties don't have a higher initial roll base (it's 1-1000). So even on battletoads, if your initial roll is 1, or 50, or 100, your bonus can't bring the quality up high enough because the initial roll was shit. I think what should be done is that higher difficulties have higher base loot rolls. Say on hard, the lowest your initial roll can go is 100; heroic 200; nightmare 300, etc. Maybe not such high jumps, but some increase, probably capping at 500 or so for battletoads. Reaching pretty far here with unexpected tactics, but is Arcane Meditation useful for a tank to have in any way?

So I know that applying Poison to a monster while it has PA on it makes the poison more powerful (even after PA wears off). Is the same true for other deprecating magic, like Weaken and Bewilder?

I don't think so, since those don't depend on the strength of the monster's defences. Bleeding Wound damage is also unaffected.

I've got a question regarding soul spells. I've read that soul spells are buffed up with the increase of forbidden proficiency, but is it really true that it is buffed up by soul rating? Consider a katalox staff - it increases forbidden prof. but instead of giving soul rating it gives dark damage rating instead (unless it implies it's for resistance purposes only). Also, there is the issue with Breached Defense proc; it says it lowers dark resistance (therefore it would "combust" if shot with dark magic) but do we really have dark magic to use?

Which do people consider more useful: HP or MP tanks? I currently keep both relatively balanced (22 vs 24).

I feel they are equally important. You need HP to live and you need MP to cast spells, whether you're a mage or not. Being able to cast your support spells is incredibly important for the survivability of a melee fighter and HP items can only get you so far compared to MP.

I max out my MP tanks first, before I put them into HP tanks. I'm currently halfway of maxing my HP tanks. I really need more artifact blessings and training for AP.

@Yunigen: I find your "evilRonald" Sig Pic to be, somehow, incredibly disturbing and even a little scary (and this is from a guy who regularly looks up gruesome accident photos on the 'Net with no problem)..........yet I can't take my eyes off of it.
Good job with finding something that creepy and fascinating, even on the Internet.
Now, my question:
Is it true that there is a Spell or Technique or something like that that prevents Monsters from dealing out Critical Hits while affected??
I might have seen it printed somewhere a good while ago, but I don't remember where, and if this does exist I'd like to know what it is (so that I can spend A-points to get it if need be; I'm going after the second tier of Bosses/first tier of Legendaries soon).

Weaken prevents physical crits. I imagine Bewilder does the same with magical.

Thank you both for the response.
Konata + Physical Crits on his special attacks = One Dead Player -even if he's a Tank in full Plate with his END set at 10 over his level, plus bonuses from his Armor (I once fought the guy and got a Double Hit from him, which finished me off Spark of Life or no).
Time to re-shuffle my A-Points, take them out of extra EXP (I've almost garnered enough Hath for Rainbow Aura anyway, in addition to the Black that I already have), and dump them into things like "Weaken," maxing out "Poison," and adding to my Spirit and Overcharge.

Is there a difficulty ranking of the legendaries? Konata was easy (1 godly mana, and 1 scroll of the avatar). Mikuru is much, much harder (I'm 0/2 though I blame my recent loss to terrible luck with her legendary).

Ryouko and Yuki are harder than Mikuru, partly because only Soul damage will hurt them physically. I used a stupid strategy on Ryouko and a sensible one on Yuki, so I don't actually know which of the two is tougher. You don't need any magical mitigation against Ryouko, which might make things easier.

This sounds intriguing. Would you care to expound on that, please?

Quick questions:
Is there a way to bind the spells in the quickbar slots to the keyboard?
I have read that there is a limit to the ammount of grindfest you can do, however, after some serious grinding i havent found it. Have anyone seen it?

ALTCTRL+ 1 through 0 correspond to each slot on the quickbar. Grindfest cap is a 24-hour rolling sum. Unless you're starting and stopping a lot of Grindfests in quick succession, you're not likely to hit it. Oops, I'm an idort. This is the second time I've done that.
