A couple of questions.

1) Regarding restoring points out of battle, using the restorative option uses potions until fully healed, but is there a way to use a single potion only?

2) On EHWiki, it says about restorative:
"This uses Lesser potions of the appropriate type and will only use stronger ones if the Lesser potions are insufficient in number. A single lesser potion restores your base points in that stat multiplied by 1.2."

Does anyone know how much other potions restore, since the wiki only mentions lesser potions. I'm assuming stronger potions restore more?

Switch to Easy > Start Grindfest > Use Potion > Defend > Defend > Defend > Defend > Run away

Just read the descriptions:
CODE
Lesser Health Potion       Restores 20% Base Health + 10% of Base Health per Turn for 10 Turns
Average Health Potion      Restores 40% Base Health + 15% of Base Health per Turn for 10 Turns
Greater Health Potion      Restores 60% Base Health + 20% of Base Health per Turn for 10 Turns
Superior Health Potion     Restores 80% Base Health + 25% of Base Health per Turn for 10 Turns
Godly Health Potion        Restores 100% Base Health + 30% of Base Health per Turn for 10 Turns

Lesser: 0.2 + 0.1*10 = 1.2
Average: 0.4 + 0.15*10 = 1.9
Superior: 0.6 + 0.2*10 = 2.6
etc.

Thanks for the answers guys.

That reminds me, regarding defend. Besides the interesting point raised by (Cheater) Tiap, in what other combat situations would you use defend? It doesn't seem very useful to me or perhaps I'm missing something? As I understand it, defend raises mitigation, wastes a turn but does nothing else?

It has many uses.

1. ETing. You can defend while the monster is under ET to regain mana.

2. Healing. For example you have a monster under stun. The next round has 9 mobs, but you're only at 1/2 HP. So, you'll defend until the monster is out of stun to regain some HP back, before killing it and proceed to the next round.

Those are the top two out of my head right now. There may be more scenarios.

Well I just went into item world and tested it. After defending for 50 rounds straight i didn't get any health or magic point restoration at all.

How does Elemental resistance upgrade in the MonsterLab work?
Does every single Upgrade have effect on my Monster or do I really need to do 25 Upgrades till it takes any effect {-75, -50, -25, 0, 25, 50, 75} ?
That would be about 10,548 Crystals per Element, about 260,000 Credits [per Element] supplied from Bazaar -50,000 Credits for Golden Handshake.
Noone said it would be cheap to troll other players.
Is it worth the effect at least?

Since some monsters start with -75 resistance:

AFAIK each upgrade is effective immediately.
The table looks right, but there not much point in upgrading a resistance more than 40 times.
Which is also why primary stats are generally the best way to raise PL.

Actually my goal was 50 times but then things happened to Crysfest (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

If you just want a good Loot generator 25 times will do.

I was aiming for 40 since I was told that's when they become "officially" resistant to the element (according to Scan).
50 requires almost 10 times as many crystals as 40 though, for a whooping 70 millions/5800 Hath worth of crystals (56/4600 with GH).
And that's per element. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Keep it low, don't get in ressource fight with yourself or so else. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I have one more question. Are following assumptions true?
Crystal of Fortitude -> Every monster gains more HP
Crystal of Cunning -> Only Elementals benefit from this one
Crystal of Finesse -> Only non Elementals benefit from this one
Crystal of Knowledge -> besides magic mitigation it gives more mana, so full gauge can cast more magic skills, every monster benefits from it.
Crystal of Vigor -> Monsters get more strength and HP but Elementals gain only HP since

If I was to upgrade my Elemental, Finesse a total waste unless I want only gain PL.
Vice versa for rest of monsters with Cunning.

Is there a difference bedween Elementals with Cold, Elec, Fire and Wind damage?
Is there a difference bedween non elementals Crushing, Slashing and Piercing?
I know that only Heavy and Light Kevlar users have piercing mitigation while every armour provides good crushing mitigation but in general monsters with high strenghts have crushing attack and those with less strength have more likely piercing attack.
So this means I'd upgrade a giant, dragonking, undead, humanoid crushing different than a arthropod, avion, reptilian, sprite with piercing attack. Obviously Vigor and Fortitude for crushing monsters and Finesse and Swiftness for piercing monsters.


Is there any flaw in my toughts? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Did the rules for Random Encounter populations recently change? I've been doing a smattering of REs for years, but in the last few days I've started seeing dramatically increased monster counts.

For example:

10 monsters in one RE?! I've never seen more than 3 at once until this week. Considering that I play my REs at Nintendo difficulty because of the (formerly) low populations... I'm probably going to die here. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

It was changed in the latest patch, added to that it has a crazy exp mod compared to the rest of the HV battles.
