Boggy is somewhat out of the loop. Curse-weaver gear + turbo-charged poison is what we abused to down all the gods on IWBTH. I was hitting something like 12k+ damage a tick with poison.
Considering that's almost as much as I hit with my Fox set + Banish, it's a valid strategy. Especially for lower levels where damage spell spam isn't effective yet.

Thank you (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ! On my lvl even if I had hito's best set, I would still do relatively low dmg because of my prof cap. And if I went fox/heimdall, my debuffs would be significantly less effective = faster death for my ass.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I really appreciate the help.
Now I have another question: besides the obvious "clear all the high level arenas on your highest completable difficulty" (I can finish all of them on Heroic pretty consistently), how do you suggest farming EXP? I'm been doing IW in a Superior lvl 196 weapon on Hard, which has worked well, but I have a feeling that there is a better way.
And a related question... what's the most "mindless" way to farm EXP? Like, if I want to watch videos on one monitor while playing HV in the other, how should I go about doing something like that?

IWBTH is not normal. IWBTH strategies are not strategies I would employ on normal, especially not for repeated killings. And are you telling me Curse-weaver + poison would beat Real Life faster than the 12ish turns I was beating him in? (that was pre 5.0, but I just killed him in 20 with sub-optimal gear, so I don't think things have changed that much) It went something like: AM, Nerf, Soul Fire, Soul Burst 9-13 times till dead. Does Infusion of Gaia increase soul damage? If so, pop one of those and you down him even faster... Seeing as you are relying on Channeling, your poison would have to be doing insane damage and you'd have to have perfect luck: AM, Nerf (proccing coalesced), melee, MM (proccing channeling), FV, BG?, Poison, blast him 6ish times with whatever while poison does its toll. Maybe you would do better in the longer IPU/FSM fights. (I'm trying to remember what I was killing those with back in the day. I'm thinking I had the IPU in the low 30s, FSM would probably be double that. Of course, you are popping Mana elixirs for both) And are you telling me that the standard strategy is to spend 3000-5000C (thats assuming you only have to use 1 FV/BG combo to kill the FSM) to kill a boss that is likely to net you 2500C? (That's assuming you go staffs. Probably 1250-1500C if you are going cloth) I'm guessing the answer is no to those questions. So, would you all do me a favor and shut the fuck up?

I don't. But I'm not level 150 with sub-optimal gear. And no.

What are you a fucking retard? I need 300 turns to kill FSM with mega poison and consistently blasting him with Banish. At the VERY best with my current holy gear I would be able to beat him with Banish alone in ~150-200 rounds. Is it so hard to understand that our profs cap at lower levels than yours? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) With my dep prof as it is now, without a CW set, FSM pretty much deals a shit load of dmg and I end up sparking too much and running out of both SP and MP pots. THIS IS ON NORMAL Don't compare us low lvl folk with you 250-300 I've-been-here-since-the-dawn-of-fucking-time. Besides, I don't BUY bubble gum, nor do I buy flower vases. The shits drop from artifacts. Might as well put them to some use. It's not like there's a high demand on them. Once I get to 250 and get my divine prof up, THEN you can berate me for being an imbecile in using specials for silly old FSM. Until then stfu and gtfo. Exquisite IW. If you REALLY want to get some crazy ass lvl's, get all spectral auras, get as much as you can in Adept Learner, respec your AP and put every point in the EXP bonuses (leave only HP+MP tanks full and just your main spells+ a few buffs). Go into an exquisite on hard or higher and get the fuck ready. I was able to get ~10 levels a day with that set up (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) though you fall behind on your prof's like nobody's business. To be honest as a lvl 207, i am not that much stronger than i was at lvl 170, because i have been neglecting my divine proficiencies too much. The only thing that might have improved are the stats on my gear, but the gods also gain better stats and higher hp when they are higher level The FSM still dies very fast for me (less than 350 turns) without taking too much damage (slow and the boosted haste combined with regen II and i can outheal his damage easily) and using 8 godly mana potions (i was too lazy to proc etherthefts or else i would have i used less). The FSM was only able to cast 4 spirit attacks and none of them hitted me (pure luck because of shadow veil and 2 got absorbed). It's true that you can get bubblegums and flower vases more easily these days because of the artifact drop changes, but it's still by no way the cheapest way. Because it can be done with mere godly potions :/ This post has been edited by hyl: Mar 28 2011, 12:45

QUOTE(coredumperror @ Mar 28 2011, 02:11) Well you've got 80 levels on me, providing a ton more AP. But I'm wondering... have you also farmed up AP using lots of artifacts and Ability Boost training? I used to do that last year, but now that AP is relatively less common from artifacts (since there's more possible reward types), I've been spending a bit more on Ability Boost. I think I should probably be saving more credits for gear upgrades though.
Yes, now we get less APs from artifacts, and the chance to get another now diminish. There isn't a cap, but yeah it become rarer. QUOTE(coredumperror @ Mar 28 2011, 02:11) Does rating still provide damage reduction against the same magic type? One reason I had picked up Pestilence was to get the rating bonus after it to reduce my damage taken from FSM. Is that worth it?
That was my idea in arenas BT, but it isn't really effective. And blind does a nice job "reducing" your dmg taken. QUOTE(coredumperror @ Mar 28 2011, 02:11) As for Soul Harvest being unavailable until level 250, you're thinking of Soul Burst. Soul Harvest is the Tier 1 Soul AOE, available at level 100. Would Soul Harvest be worth picking up right now for use against Legendaries, or should I be using some other strategy?
Lol is soul burst. Actually didn't tried much SH, but I don't think is better than banish for FSM. QUOTE(coredumperror @ Mar 28 2011, 03:03) how do you suggest farming EXP? I'm been doing IW in a Superior lvl 196 weapon on Hard, which has worked well, but I have a feeling that there is a better way.

First buy a exquisite from hito, he have some for sell, and they have +300 levels. Well probably normal, since you literally kill everything except resists, but I can't still watch videos lol. Other way is 2H with a good Scythe, if you have enough 2H prof, you practically kill everything with the same couple of clicks. QUOTE(Boggyb @ Mar 28 2011, 05:01) IWBTH is not normal. IWBTH strategies are not strategies I would employ on normal, especially not for repeated killings.
True, that's why I don't use it, but if I need hundreds of rounds doing everyday, I would prefer to save some time for 2000C (if I buy the gum) For me the flower isn't necessary, but it's because "I" wouldn't need to kill that faster imo. QUOTE(Boggyb @ Mar 28 2011, 05:01) And are you telling me Curse-weaver + poison would beat Real Life faster than the 12ish turns I was beating him in? (that was pre 5.0, but I just killed him in 20 with sub-optimal gear, so I don't think things have changed that much) Actually if it was after 4.8 release, yes they changed a lot. With 4.8. came a bug which reduced monster's resistances by half, even 100% resistance was in fact 50%. This bug was only fixed in 5.0.

Just tried to go at FSM purely with holy. My divine prof is at 82, set gives +20 Holy dmg and +130 divine prof.
455 11 You gain 1020 Credits! 455 10 You gain 28477.8 EXP! 455 9 Your HP and MP have been fully restored! 455 8 Arena Token Bonus! [Token of Healing] 455 7 Arena Clear Bonus! [Fine Willow Staff of the Fox] 455 6 Flying Spaghetti Monster dropped [Noodly Appendage] 455 5 You are Victorious!
Almost twice as many rounds as the CW way.
Plus, I used up 6 Mana elixirs (didn't know how the fight was gonna go, so brought elixirs instead of godlies just to be safe) That's the equivalent of 12 Godly potions. PLUS a shit load of fucking scrolls. Yeah, In the end, one BG and one FV is way fucking cheaper.

Considering the real cost of doing so is 1000 C, yes. Decent curse-weaver gear is also much cheaper to acquire than most things, since there's little demand. That may be changing now though (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif). I didn't have time to give you a more in depth rebuttal before, so I'll do so now. QUOTE(Boggyb @ Mar 27 2011, 21:01) Seeing as you are relying on Channeling, your poison would have to be doing insane damage and you'd have to have perfect luck: AM, Nerf (proccing coalesced), melee, MM (proccing channeling), FV, BG?, Poison, blast him 6ish times with whatever while poison does its toll.
There's really no luck involved. As Kamuiseph's run showed (with a very mediocre curse-weaver set as well), 1 set of specials is more than enough. Using channeling is easy and is really only there to increase the duration, since it doesn't increase the power. It lasts 4 turns as well so you can Vase/Gum after getting everything setup and getting channeling up. Also, vases last 20 turns now, which is a significant damage dealer in itself. Add that to the fact that CW gear vastly improves blind, to the point where me and Hito had 100% avoidance with SV. It's not 100% for lower levels, but it still makes tanking the damage infinitely easier. QUOTE(Boggyb @ Mar 27 2011, 21:01) Maybe you would do better in the longer IPU/FSM fights. (I'm trying to remember what I was killing those with back in the day. I'm thinking I had the IPU in the low 30s, FSM would probably be double that. Of course, you are popping Mana elixirs for both)
I was most specifically referring to FSM btw. But anyways, Soul Burst (which they don't have access to anyway) doesn't work for FSM/IPU now. They truly are impervious now that the resistance bug is fixed. So Banish/Ragnarok is required. QUOTE(Boggyb @ Mar 27 2011, 21:01) And are you telling me that the standard strategy is to spend 3000-5000C (thats assuming you only have to use 1 FV/BG combo to kill the FSM) to kill a boss that is likely to net you 2500C? (That's assuming you go staffs. Probably 1250-1500C if you are going cloth)
Considering that artifacts now give specials as a reward sometimes, most people have a surplus of them. Also, no one really buys them, so the real cost of the strategy is whatever you lose out by not selling them to the bazaar, which is like 1000 C. Hardly breaking the bank. And I'd argue that the time saved is worth it. It appears to save Kamuiseph about 200 rounds worth of time. How many credits could he gain if he just normalfested 200 rounds? Also, the point of farming noodles isn't really the credits you gain. In that case, it'd be more logical just to do a bunch of Bosses. The point is that you might, just might, get something like this or this like I did. This post has been edited by Conquest101: Mar 28 2011, 16:36

And regarding proficiencies... what's a good way to level up Divine? I remember working at it for a while in the past (spamming single-target holy spells to clear out all the low level arenas), but it's still hovering in the 90s, which is far lower than I'd like it to be. Same as always. Load up on MP, find a resistant monster, spam spell, rinse and repeat.

So I'm in the process of respecing, and I realized that no one's mentioned using Silence or Bewilder since I got back. Are those spells still used at all these days?

For exquisite IW, on the first 100-150 lvls I use thunderstorm+inferno (uses less MP, and I don't really need WoT at lower rounds) then at ~150-300 I alternate between spamming WoT as soon as I enter and thunderstorm+inferno when my HP is above 80% I level up divine by 1)doing all my arenas with my divine gear and spells 2)doing daily FSM with divine spells+CW and poison. Also, blind helps more than bewilder and silence is just useless, can't use weaken with it.

Hmm, I guess I should find a higher level Exquisite, if you're finding it so easy to get 300 levels into a single item. My highest one is over a year old, and is thus only lvl 187 I guess I won't bother maxing out Bewilder of Silence, then. What difficulty level do you do arenas on with nothing but Holy spell spell?

Do: Attack Damage Multiplier, Magic Damage Multiplier, Elemental Damage Bonus stack multiplicatively?

CODE Spell damage = Base damage*(1.5 if a crit)*(1.5 if Channeled)*(1+MDM)*(1+EDB+rating)*(1+prof/200)*(1-interference/100)
Arcane Focus adds MDM in the formula this way = 10 + ( supportive proficiency/25 ) (among another things) Infusions add rating. And, quoted from cmdct: this means EDB gear normally give more dmg output than similar proficiency bonus gear. And to be more specific in regards to your question, Attack Damage Multiplier does not interact with the other stats you asked about. That stat only increases your physical damage dealt.

(Rare to have, and good ones available to buy even rarer)
