I've always been curious, but why is it I've seen so many times a Monster has exactly 0 hp, but isn't greyed out, can still atk, and requires one more hit to die. does 0hp really mean 1hp???

I'm assuming your using cmal's stat program. He's explained before that the HP numbers are NOT actual in game derivatives, but just an estimation based a monster's total HP vs the percentage of it's HP bar remaining. This is particularly noticeable when fighting Bosses and the like. It's displayed HP won't actually drop until it's HP bar "moves". So, when a monster's HP bar is down to that last, invisible sliver, irregardless of how much HP it actually has, it'll say 0/whatever. This post has been edited by Conquest101: Oct 24 2010, 17:44

a couple of questions regarding Bleeding Wound: - do all Daggers have super short Proc durations? all four i've found have 1-2 turns of BW tops
- is the Bleed damage from Scythes higher than the one from Axes?
- i know this probably has alot to do with the enemy and its barrier rating, but generally speaking, is Bleed damage higher than Poison damage?
and finally, a semi-related question, is the damage from Searing skin bigger than the one from Poison? my own experience and a few posts i've read on "Ask The Experts" have lead me to believe that Poison is just not that good, hence why it's usually paired with PA and BW

Superior prism dagger of slaughterQUOTE(Battle_Hunter @ Oct 24 2010, 10:13) -is the Bleed damage from Scythes higher than the one from Axes?
Possibly. QUOTE(Battle_Hunter @ Oct 24 2010, 10:13) -i know this probably has alot to do with the enemy and its barrier rating, but generally speaking, is Bleed damage higher than Poison damage?
For more powerful enemies, yes. Once you get Nerf, it really depends. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. QUOTE(Battle_Hunter @ Oct 24 2010, 10:13) and finally, a semi-related question, is the damage from Searing skin bigger than the one from Poison?
Uh.... Spreading Poison hits Scary Ghost for 2872 damage. Searing Skin hits Scary Ghost for 2210 damage. That is without Nerf or Arcane Meditation. Also, they are pretty much incomparable because Searing Skin is a short secondary effect. i should've said "not that damaging" i'm more interested in sheer damage than Poison affecting the regen rates of enemies

I remember back in the day using poison on every enemy (or just the mini-bosses) in the last round of lower arenas to good effect.

Something weird is happening: From the wiki: QUOTE duration = base_duration * (1 + additional_AP / 4) * (1 + proficiency / 100) The result is rounded to the nearest whole number of turns.
Silence: The target is silenced, preventing it from using special attacks and magic. Base cost is 18. Base duration is 7. I have 207.85 deprecating proficiency: 7*(1+1)*(1+2.0785)=43.099 rounds. Description says Silence lasts for 45 rounds once I cast it (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Can somebody explain my action speed of 116?
I have a burden of 23.8, and an adjusted agility of 47. By the formulas, I should have a speed of 111-112, no?

Burden is not applied to the action speed displayed on the character page.

I have a question regarding Ether Theft. I have a 24% of getting that on a monster, and it lasts for only a turn. I can leech 14 MP from a monster while it's active. Can this (the chance of it activating, the duration, and the amount taken from a monster) be increased by going through IW and leveling the item up? My staff is currently at level 82. Does having a high Staff Proc affect this as well?

Activation chance cannot be increased. The amount actually leeched is based on a monster's MP, so technically, it'll increase as you level up (and monsters level up by consequence) Leveling the item does not increase the amount leeched. The duration CAN increase, but since we don't know the scaling factors for staffs and since the durations are so short irregardless, it's impossible to say if and when any particular staff will actually increase in duration. I'm not sure what what you mean by that last question. If you meant staff proficiency, that only increases your chance of getting Coalesce mana up to a max of 35%. Yeah that was what I meant. Thanks for answering my questions.

Wiki in various places indicates that IW on normal has a chance of giving an item 2 levels. I think it is wrong; at least, in all my several dozens of normal IW completions, I never got 2 levels.
Do we have any estimates for how difficulty level translates into chance of weapon leveling?

I don't have a lot of experience with the middle difficulties, but I for Battletoads, I would say it at best is 50% chance of 3 with the other 50% chance being 2.

I've gotten 2 a couple of times. It's rare. From personal experience, Heroic is maybe 50/50 or a little worse. Nightmare is around 75% I'd say.

if you look at my posts in the equipment level up thread, you can see what difficulty I level stuff up on and if they went up +1 or +2. I haven't done normal in a long time but I do Hard often (if I don't have much time) And I find that doing items on Hard gives me +2 more often then when I do higher difficulties up till Nightmare.

I got two levels on an item the other night actually, and I was playing on normal. But the item was at level 18 I think, so it wasn't really that hard to level up. I think the wiki is mostly right though - every time I play on normal I always get a level increase. I played on Easy for a item that was level 38, at the end I didn't raise the level, which annoyed me but I expected it since I'm going by the wiki.

I my opinion. CAKE -> EST. 50% 1 Level EASY -> EST. 80% 1 Level Normal -> EST. 100% 1 Level maybe 5% change up to 2 Levels. Hard -> EST 100% 1 Level maybe 50% change up to 2 Levels. as same as EXP MOD. Thanks for the numbers, I think the estimates are good enough to add to wiki. Question 1: I've now seen two ethereal longswords ( 1, 2), none of them have bleed. Is it because they are from the time proc chance was not guaranteed, or is it because ethereal longswords don't have bleed? Question 2: Is it safe to say that daggers are used rarely, and shordswords, swordchucks, clubs, maces , estocs and scythes, almost never?
