Thx. Does Shield also prevent Slashing, Crushing etc. damage or only when it says "Physical" like from Scary Ghost?

All physical damage. Note that some enemy skills are physical (check the bestiary for details).

Thx, but I wanted to know IF slashing, piercing etc. damage counts as "physical".

Another question: Does dying in battle have any disadvantages except for being on 0 life afterwards? Usually I would try to flee before I get beaten, but I really dont see the point in it so far (except for saving a bit rest life).

The Shield spell protects from any type of damage that targets your shield rating, including slashing, piercing and crushing.

There are no penalties for being defeated in battle.

All damage is either physical or magical. What you're describing are specific types. Theoretically, if a monster had a magical attack that did Slashing damage, Shield would not protect against it.

The Scary Ghost does physical damage of type Physical (and is the only monster to do so). No one knows why. It can be a bit confusing.

What determines how much mana ether theft steals?

I have 2 staves:

This Steals 7 mp per turn, and
This Steals 5 mp per turn

I'm making some calculations to find out how to cope with FSM and I'm stuck.

I've been using Sonics EH Calculator for more info on other statistics and there's something I don't understand. There are 2 Innate Arcana Upkeeps.
The first stat reads Innate Arcana Upkeep 0.59 MP/turn. Which is the same the Settings page shows.
But there's a second one that reads Actual Innate Arcana Upkeep 0.39 MP/turn.

Is it really the ACTUAL upkeep? And how come there's a difference? All I can come up with is that Tenboro came up with this as a means to even it out. Since the upkeep also drains your mp when you start a battle round or end one. Well I'm not gonna guess any further. I hope someone knows more.

Actual upkeep is Innate Arcana Upkeep minus MP recovered by magic regen: (magic regen)/30

How does EXP bonus from posting work?

Is the bonus calculated from how much you posted the last day? Your total posts? Your average per day?

does the HV have the "rock, paper, scissors" elemental thing a la pokemon?

i'd like to know if the legendaries/bosses/whatever everyone's always talking about are weak against a particular element(s), furthermore, do those "elemental proficiency bonus" you get from auras actually make spells stronger, or do they just make you resistent against that?

EDIT: also, an unrelated question, how does one find out the prize for which items/armor/whatever would sell on the bazaar?

One visits the Bazaar. No point listing item prices when the shop has most of them in stock, and there's no way of knowing exactly how much a given piece of equipment will sell for.

Can only Equipment and Artifacts be sold here on Forums or also semi expansive consumable items like Infusion of Gaia or Mana Elixirs? Atm I have no use for them. Would people buy those for more than I would get in the shop?
