I just ran into a Bunneh doing a Crude item on Heroic.
Maybe Torotuna is still right, but he might have "forgotten" that IW Difficulty also factors in someho; that is to say, maybe if you grind and grind and grind that same Weapon on Normal, you wouldn't ever see one......and maybe you'll never see a Boss in an Item set to "Cake," regardless of its quality.

I don't think Bosses ever show up on difficulties less than Normal, regardless of the battle type.

EDIT:
BTW, I've seen bosses in Flimsy/Heroic.

Uhh... yeah, you're right. I don't know what I was talking about then. I've fought bosses in Flimsy IW on multiple
occasions. Difficulty determines whether or not you get bosses. Item quality determines monster strength and EXP.
I'm 99.9% sure Tenboro said that bosses won't ever appear on cake or easy.

You are right. Bosses only appear on normal and up.

Well since 0.2.2 they won't appear on grindfest, we can assume IW as well.

Maybe, but it already past 00.00 GMT, and until now when is 00.00 GMT I have a new dawn of the day, and arenas unlocked. I assume it's synchronized with the users time, right?

Edit: Now I know what it is: is because this Sunday went DST, so basically 00.00 occurs at 01.00, anyone on GMT are have the same problem?

Funny, your user's hour it's the same as mine (GMT) so just to confirm if it's my PC is messed up, confirm that your time hour for your previous post is 2:59, if your dawn still occurred at 00.00, and I assume that you're in DST since Sunday as well.

My time zone is set to "GMT", but with daylight saving in effect my local time is BST (British Summer Time, ha ha).
Time now is about 4.18 according to both the forum and my PC clock.
"Dawn" occurs at 00.00 UTC = 00.00 GMT = 01.00 BST.

What methods do other mages use to kill manthras? The wiki says they are weak to dark and wind, but dark isn't available at my level and the first tier wind spell that I bought to kill manthras doesn't do anymore damage than thunderstorm.
I have an extra AP and was thinking of getting the second tier wind spell. Waste of an AP? Just tough it out until I can get dark?

Wind can be a useful spell, as only Green Slime and the Canuck resist it. If you use the AoE wind spell to take out Manthra, pretty much anything else will also be toast. If you're just getting the single-effect spell, it's maybe not so useful. Before I got it, though, I had exactly the same issue you have; chipping away at Manthra.

Does it seem to anybody else that rolls are skewed today, and there are much more encounters, or am I just unlucky?

Don't expect Dark to be the panacea to your Manthra problems. Sure, you can kill them easily, but Dark magic is SOOO mana intensive it is almost not worth it to use it. I know I seriously improved my mana efficiency by hitting them with Thunderstorms. I can usually take them out in two hits and even without Coalesced Mana that is still cheaper than Pestilence. Of course, my two mjolnir phase pieces make my elec damage do more than normal, but the point still stands.

Sure, but unless you plan on leveling it a million times, you would probably be better off waiting and finding something better when you can actually fight the IPU. I'm assuming that is why you would want it. I can't think of any other reason you would want mitigation gear.
