When you click on a URL Link to a weapon in your Inventory (specifically, I'm talking about items in my Shop Thread) and it says "no such item," as opposed to "system" or "[Current Owner: ForumMemberName]," does that mean that a glitch in the script somehow "stole" your Weapon from you??

(Yes, I've already checked my "Credits" page in UCP but no such luck.)
I would hate to think about the possibility that a favored Weapon or piece of Armor that I'm not wearing at the moment might up and vanish from my inventory one day for no apparent reason....

That shouldn't be happening. Are you sure you still have that exact piece of equipment in your inventory? Is the URL correct? I've found things in my shop that I'd apparently sold to the shop and forgot to delist (and double-checked since I keep a ledger of all my equipment sales for super anal-ness).

I checked my personal Inventory, I clicked on the Link once more just to be sure, and I even, as I said before, went to my Credits List and used my browser's Search Function to look for both the number 1,035 (the sale cost of that particular Weapon, a Longsword), as well all of the recurring instances of the word "longsword."


No such luck.

BTW...I could've sworn that one or two pieces in your own collection were listed as "no such item," but I'm not sure even though I know for sure it's one of you High Level Merchandise guys (cmal, EvoKing, Hito, et al.) that I also saw that phrase in.

Maybe its just misplaced. If you're sure you've never sold it based on checking your credit logs, then it should still be in your inventory somewhere. You could try looking at the page source (right-click->View Page Source ought to bring it up) and searching for the equip ID.

If you did a page search of the Bazaar and still turn up blank after checking for EID, I suppose you could ask Tenboro and hope he has an answer. Unless you're Boggy or have a question he doesn't want to answer, you've probably got a good chance of getting a reply.

I would presume the only situation where it would be of significant usefulness would be when facing Bosses/Legendaries. As for the mana recovered; I honestly haven't a clue. Sorry.

"Absorb" is a supremely useful spell.

Like the other Spells, it takes a certain amount of mana per casting based on a percentage of your Base Mana (e.g., it increases in cost as you gain MP), and it recovers a 'random' amount of Mana once the Enemy hits that Shield.

And by 'random,' I mean that you almost always get back nearly as much Mana back as you put into the spell; oftentimes more than you spent on the spell cast. Making it, in effect, a very very very low cost Spell to have.

Your choice: Spend X amount of MP on 'Absorb' and it successfully negates a "Horrible Rape" or "Toddlerguro...." or have one of those Spells hit you/crit you for massive damage and you end up spending massive amounts of MP, anyway, on Curative magicks.


BTW: As far as I can tell from having used it before, 'Sleep' is pretty useless in my opinion. MAYBE if you wanted one of the Bosses to take a nap while you quickly recover yourself, then perhaps I could see some utility in keeping that one.

I just asked Tenboro, and he informed me that on occasion the System "eats" Weapons and Armor whenever th inventory is full

And I don't really know what he means by "full" but I assume that he is referring to the sum total of all Weapons and Armors owned by everybody as well as those in the Bazaar.

Does this possibly mean that over time we'll all see even more of these glitches, and more often, as HV's total global population of players increases?!?

Absorb is mostly useful if you use Bewilder instead of Silence, since it can't protect against crits. Or at lower levels when you can't take a hit from big spells yet. Personally, I've stopped wasting the MP to cast it, since actually getting hit with a big spell is pretty rare now and I've usually got Bosses nerfed with Silence/Slow/Nerf so they're not much to worry about. But that's me.

Well shit. I hope you followed up by asking what he meant by the inventory being full. Because I would not be happy if the system eats one of my "rainy day" equips. I could care less about the junk, but good things going away is bad.

Not quite. Your spells increase in cost as you level up, not as your Base Mana increases. Spells have MP costs which are a certain percentage of your current level, rounded up, which you can learn about on this page of the wiki.

BTW: As far as I can tell from having used it before, 'Sleep' is pretty useless in my opinion.

Sleep is the kind of spell that has such a narrow value as to be only worth picking up for specific purposes. For instance, it's great when doing Battletoads arenas, since you can put the most dangerous foes to sleep while you beat down their pals. But that's the only purpose for which I've ever considered using it, so it's certainly not worthwhile for the average player to spend any AP on it.
