Slighty off-topic, but I didn't want to make a new thread about it. Finally beat my first boss! On normal, but still!

Took several mana items (Average and under) and a few healing items (greater and under) totalling 7 items, but I did it with poison, weaken, and pierced armor (with inferno). Finally got a trophy!

Congratulations. I can never seem to beat legendaries in Grindfest, and any time I go looking for them with the right equipment setup they never turn up.

I'm wondering, do infusions change the element of your spirit attack? Of course, this doesn't matter for manbearpig but for other legendaries wouldn't it be an instant win if you can change the element of your spirit attack + PA + 150%+ overcharge?

Unfortunately infusions have no effect on your spirit attack.

I have already tried the other two today, but Global Warming hit for 95% of my health and Mithra did about the same. And earlier today I was happily just 2 levels from getting silence too. Oh well, 42 levels to go.

I'm gonna attempt real life on normal in a few minutes (I got inches to beating him on hard before but now I'm scared to try normal with the changes ;_;), we'll see if it's possible to beat a legendary without silence and weaken together. You said it was possible Tenb, I'm holding you to this. My method: mainhand ethereal rapier, offhand club of awesome stunning, blind, weaken, PA poison and slow. And 11 elixirs, a bubble gum and a flower vase. Wish me luck. If anyone has a better idea, do tell.

Good luck. You can tell us if its spirit attack still 1 shots us or if Tenb actually reduced it enough to be mildly survivable.

The new leather names are killing me. I have no idea if Internet Shutdown would've killed me. The physical skills (I assume they're physical) did 1/3 of my health each, and used like 1/25 of his mp bar. My unique

It's currently at 50% of it's health. Assuming no 1hit kills I can survive. If I'd tried this on hard again I'd have been massacred. The whole silence/weaken thing is not cool :\

I don't know if the spirit attack would kill you the spirit attacks I got hit with from the regular bosses were doing less then some of the magic attacks.

oh and he seriously only used his spirit attack once in 300 turns??

My style is probably somewhat unique given my offhand is the exquisite club of I'm gonna stun your ass. 35% chance 5 turn stun. I wasn't exactly letting him have many turns. But yeah, he had a full bar for almost 300 turns and I almost had a heart attack when I saw it disappear - then I saw it missed. I think it could be done by others if silence+weaken/blind were allowed, but honestly, next time I'd do it with my non-ethereal club as the mainhand and just poison him to death to be safe.

I used 3 godly mana draughts and 1 mana elixir. No spirit attacks, nor the soul stone and bubblegum I brought along. I didn't want to use them, get him to half health, and then have him spirit my ass.

I believe 300-400. But I'm pretty sure he has like a 50% crit chance, so if you let weaken drop at all your health goes very very fast.

item world with like 9 monster + white bunney. had to use like 5 greater mana potion to survive his spirit attack that took like 1/2 of my hp with all buffs on (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif).

Hey so any mages out there care to enlighten me on how they take down boss+ characters efficiently?

I killed a dalek but it took a hell of a lot more time and potions to do than if I had just used a melee weapon.

I'd imagine you have to use elemental weakness to kill them with any speed. Although this is assuming you didn't fight with a respec to get all the spells.

I was hoping that soul reaper would atleast go at a middling pace, but it was faster to just whack it with my staff.

well dalek isn't soul weak, according to wiki, it might have worked better against manbearpig or mithra

well, soul damage from a weapon works just fine D:
Even assuming I got 2x damage from it being weak to the element, and 2x damage for me having non crappy proficiency, I'd still do more damage in melee with no mana cost that casting. Unless I'm doing something horribly wrong. How effective are the proc explosions for alternating elements?

I don't think they make that the proc explosions make that much of a difference and alternating elements when you know what element the monster is weak to seems like it would just waste mana. Maybe the elemental based spells, (not holy, soul, dark) pack more of a punch.

I don't know really, I don't think there are any true casters above level 100, so they really haven't had to face bosses much.

Don't think I'll try the Ring of Blood as soon as I hit 50 (only 4000 exp away) though. I'm pretty sure grindfest has a damage reduction, and Dalek's Death Ray already does 1/3 of my max HP.
