And it takes less damage. Except for Bleeding Wound, which is handy.

I'm thinking about taking on FSM with melee, I intend on keeping it under nerf and silence, with dual wield club/bleed, would spirit ward armour help much? Even only wearing a few good pieces you can get quite high dark mitigation

You can't keep it stunned 100% of the time, and when it hits, it hits hard. I think some Spirit-ward gear is advisable. Anyway, what else would you wear?

Curse Weaver would be a good choice.
Or do it like cmdct and go full earth walker for 100% stun (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Also, take Infusions of divinity with you. The dmg boost is really noticeable.

I haven't been able to get past Mikuru in the RoB on Normal yet. Konata wasn't this hard. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Yesterday I tried Mikuru as a mage wearing a combination of Heimdall Phase and Gossamer Heaven-sent cloth.

Supportive (78% prof.) spells were the typical set (no IA): Shield, Haste, Shadow Veil, Infusion of Divinity, Spark of Life (scroll);
Deprecating (78% prof.) spells were also standard: Weaken, Bewilder, Slow, Poison.

Problem is that she has something like 80,000 HP and Purge was only doing between 500-700 damage. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Between healing, attacking, and maintaining all of the spells listed above, what caused me to fail was simply the inevitability that I'd run out of MP too soon. By the time she was at 65% HP, I had gone through 4 of my 9 Mana Potions and it was clear that I wasn't going to be able to last long enough, so I let Spark of Life run out and Time Quake got me.

I only recently started using Holy spells so my Divine proficiency is still really low (~25%), but I can't really imagine it making that big of a difference.

Is there any particular strategy that mages use against the girls, or is the key to simply wait and try again when I'm higher level and have better equipment?

You need to make better use of Ether Theft for mana regen. First, I reccomend a minmum 30% 2-turn ET staff. 40% 3-turn is ideal.

When I fight with mana conservation in mind (against FSM, and in EoD) I proc ET off of 90+% of the Coalesced Mana procs that I get. The mana return from ET, combined with spamming Banish during ET and getting Channeling procs for free Banishes, gives me back almost as much mana as my Banish spam cost to do.

When I'm low on Mana, I switch to Condemn, so that I actually gain back more mana from ET than I spend (still casting Banishes when Channeling procs).

Also, use some of those channeling procs to keep all your supportive and deprecating spells active. That way they last 50% longer and cost 0 mana.

If you really work at it, you can kill a legendary (or even a god) without using a single mana pot. With decent mana conservation, you can afford to bring more spirit pots to power Spark.

Thanks.

My staff has a two-turn 36% chance of Ether Theft, so I guess that's right in the middle there.

I'll have to try playing conservatively next time I attempt Mikuru. I was approaching her like I do the regular bosses, so I wasn't utilizing Ether Theft at all, since I was preferring the 50% spell MP reduction of Coalesced Mana instead. When I did proc Ether Theft here and there, I think I only recovered maybe 13ish MP per turn, so I don't know if that's really enough. I also have a pretty difficult time getting Channeling to proc, though; my Staff proficiency is still pretty low, at around 57.00

One thing that I didn't realize until I started doing this strategy is that with a little luck, your channeling procs during Banish/Purge spam actually save you enough mana that ET nearly recovers the entire cost. However, I don't know what goes into the Channeling proc chance, so it may only work out that well for me because my staff prof is above 200.

A great way to level up your staff prof is to do cakefest bashing sprees. I go in and do as many rounds as I can of just hitting monsters with my staff over and over, using Regen to keep my health topped off (and Shield on autocast). On cake, even the worst customs don't hit very hard until your round counter goes into triple digits, so Regen more than covers the damage you take. I just breeze through the levels while watching a movie on my other monitor.

The 2500 bonus belongs to the Noodly Appendage, and is added to the quality roll when you turn it in at the Shrine. So the equipment you get in return will tend to be better quality than you would get from, say, a Manbearpig Tail. I hope that answers your question.

This is some data from the four goddesses that you meet at Lvl.75. I was about level 81/82 when I went for it. I probably could've done it at 75 since it was pretty simple:

72 9 You gain 25024 Credits!
72 8 You gain 1428.26 EXP!
72 7 Your HP and MP have been fully restored!
72 6 Arena Token Bonus! [Chaos Token]
72 5 Arena Clear Bonus! [Superior Axe of the Battlecaster]
72 4 Konata dropped [Lock of Blue Hair]
72 3 You are Victorious!
72 2 Konata has been defeated.
72 1 You crit Konata for 1530 wind damage.

One down and three to go! -Vakuen

Edit: This being the equipment thread...Well hey, its not nothing.

There was almost nothing to it. Make sure you're chugging the proper infusions and with a penetrated armor weapon going at it was like cake.

I used at most two greater manas on each of them and had infusions of darkness for three of them.

In terms of infusions, I used about 4-5 or so on each of them. No need for scrolls of life or any scrolls at all, really. I did use a scroll of haste once but I didn't need to.

I kept them under weaken (5) and poison (5) the whole time and on three of them, I used bewilder (5) the whole time. I also used slow on occasion and haste on myself on occasion.

No fancy setups but light gear with a decent rapier and a parry-focused secondary weapon.

As you can see, it was over within 74 rounds for Konata, and about 130 for each of the others. I accidentally let myself become vulnerable to that Asahina right before she died so that was a problem.

I hope this is helpful to someone. At least at normal, you can beat all the bosses at level 50 and all the bosses at 75 at Lvl. 80 easily. You don't need fancy scrolls of life or gods or anything. Just dark infusions, spells: weaken, poison, bewilder, and maybe slow. Maybe a mana potion or two.

I put this info here because I was asking about it earlier on another thread

this is my second try against it, the first after 0.5.x patch.
and it was a piece of cake, I waited to get nerf and it was very helpfull.

Equipment:
Fine katana of the battlecaster
fine wakizashi of the nimble
Average dragon hide helmet of the battlecaster
Fine shade breastplate of the fleet
Fine shade gauntlets of the arcanist
Fine shade leggings of the fleet
Average shade boots of the shadowdancer

Items:
5 mana elixirs 1 flower vase 1 bubblegum
scroll of the gods
scroll of the avatar
infusions of darkness on their autoslots

Flawervase + bubblegum + poison made 1/3 of the job, with ~1080 damage per turn per 107 turns.
Perlexing paradox hit me only 1 time when is healt was above 80%, spark save me.
Nerf+blind+slow+weaken and my regen1 was better then all the damage it done to me.
I use only 2 mana elixirs and 1 scroll of the avatar in the end, just for not use another elixir. 7 or 8 infusion of darkness.

I hope that Flying spaghetti monster will be more harder, this victory is like ashes in my mouth. But with 101029c I feel rich like berlusconi...

Just wasted the life

Pretty straight forward fight,i just kept it silenced so it can't use the spirit/magic attacks to one-shot me.I have 5/5 ranks in silence since my deprecating proficiency sucks-it lasted for 34 rounds. Also i had it poisoned, since it was for almost all the fight full mana/spirit it didn't had any impact on the regeneration but it was cheap to maintain and the slight increase in dps was welcomed.

Fighting style was one-hand/shield,namely a rapier.
Instead of my normal gear i used dragonhide/kevlar gear of the shielding aura to mitigate the physical dmg.Although it wasn't much help reallly since they provided too little resistance.

I packed my inventory only with godly mana potions and infusion of Gaia, and used 4 potions and 7 infusions.

At about 114 level i had killed the unicorn as well, using the same strategy but using holy mitigation gear and infusion of darkness respectively.I had amassed 50% holy and 25% physical mitigation so its was quite easy.

I didn't even had to use spark of life (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I just did it earlier today. Not difficult, but monotonous and slow. Admittedly, we have a few advantages, but we also have to take out a bazillion more HP than you do. Took about 400 turns, but my holy outfit is out of date (EDBs can't compare to the new stuff).

Spirit shield is a massive help, though spark of life will do fine too I guess.

This was yesterday, I have like 7,700HP.

When you can get the EDB holy up a bit, you will notice a big difference. I can do both EoD and twilight daily put together within 50 minutes with 130 EDB. I so regret ive sold so many of my awesome heimdall equipment before noticing this, or else i woulda probably be close to 150 edb.

47 right now (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) 3/5 of my pieces are heaven-sent, and a good portion of that EDB comes from my staff. I really wish I'd stop getting owl/fox shit from my trophies (but so does everyone). Currently takes me 13-17 Banishes to kill one of the girls, I probably spend more time proccing ether theft to make up for the loss than I do trying to kill them >_<
