QUOTE(aleden @ Jul 18 2018, 20:15)
tl;dr - Do you think players today are pickier with armour, and do you think the wiki leads newbies to all play the game a certain way (heavy power 1h rapier)
The only reason i suggest new players to power 1h is you can play high difficulty with low chance dying. Other style is fun, but you need good equip for high difficulty. Grind in low difficulty isn't effective, and keep dying in high difficulty isn't fun. And i think rapier is best but other 1h still works and much cheaper.

Good magnificent gear used to cost millions, so yes, things changed and players are "pickier", but that's just how market is - always changing. QUOTE(aleden @ Jul 18 2018, 15:15) do you think the wiki leads newbies to all play the game a certain way (heavy power 1h rapier)
Newbies that don't care about builds don't read build guides, nostalgia is always meaningless and if you want unique raw experience - play with self drop only (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) QUOTE(Elton Turner @ Jul 18 2018, 15:46) How do I get energy drinks to repair my shade equipment? I don't really see people selling them in WTS. Are they expensive? For that matter, is there a way of getting crap leathers and scrap metals except buying them from players?
You need energy cells, not energy drinks. You can buy them at bazaar, salvage rare equipment or look for shop owners with coupon clipper hath perk. This post has been edited by Benny-boy: Jul 18 2018, 14:55

Energy Cells! Not Energy Drinks! Cells aren't expensive. But them at the item shop in bazaar

That's true, I guess it depends what your goal is and how you want to play. I mean I wish I didn't level up as fast as I did. If I could stay in the 300s for years, I'd be a happy man. Honestly, I could play all the arenas right now on Nightmare or Hell and I'd be levellng way too fast. I'll do DWD in IWBTH or PFUDOR if I'm feeling frisky. I'm also a relatively new player so I also don't know exactly how people play the game, which is why I posed the question. Prices go down and up. Superior equips are completely out of style now as well. Anyways, no idea where you were going with the nostalgia quip. I agree playing with self drops is a cool experience, it's how I played the game from level 1 up to 250 or so. But that's when I got good enough at the game to venture out on my own and experiment, hence my comment above. There are also lots of other ways to to have raw/cool experiences as well.

Yeah, not sure why I said drinks... I've seen people sell those. Anyway, thanks, but don't the items from shops come from players?

Best Equipment Set for Holy@Arena? I'm not sure which slots should be armed with Cotton / Phase. Our goal is to reach prof-factor = 1.0?
I have prof perk, but I don't want to upgrade my Cotton Gear >Lv25 and Phase > Lv10 (Damned CP) for now.

Even if you maximize your prof forging for two pieces, for example, gloves and shoes, you still have to work on your base prof a lot to reach 1.0. You may not want to play holy/dark if you don't even forge profs of your cottons to 50.
Use Scremaz's mage prof calculators to see what you can get from different combinations. For beginners, cotton cap plus shoes should be good.

QUOTE(aleden @ Jul 18 2018, 05:15)
My question is: do you think new players today are more picky than the players of yesteryear?
So do you think players are becoming too picky?
Which leads me to my second question: do you think the FAQs, the Wiki, and all that, shunts new players into specific playstyles which they then basically adopt for most of their appreciable time playing the game?
I think that most older players which are still here now are just as picky as these newer players. I am guilty of being secretly picky especially when it comes to power armor and force shields with me only wanting protection suffixes. I also think that the wiki shunts new players into specific playstyles. This post has been edited by PersonaFan08: Jul 19 2018, 03:41

You can decide ~0.8 prof factor for Holy imperil style & ~1.0 for non-imperil but it is not necessary, you can try it yourself and see the performance. If you insist not to forge your cotton to high level, you can choose Robe slot to get more prof and sacrifice some EDB, but you need to calculate prof factor yourself: Mage Prof Calculator 1.12This post has been edited by Lastwizard05: Jul 19 2018, 06:11

Probably a dumb question, and I've checked the wiki already and not really found anything, but when a piece of armor has a crushing mitigation for example, is that combined with its physical mitigation or is it something separate? Cause to me it doesn't make sense to have three specific damage mitigations listed as well as a physical mitigation stat, wouldn't they be the same thing? EDIT: I think I figured it out myself a few minutes later thinking about it, but I'd still like an answer to see if I'm right.

Damage ReductionDamage Taken = Original_Damage_Roll * (1 - Physical or Magical Mitigation) * (1 - Specific Mitigation) So they are not the same thing.

At least this question has actually something to do with HV. So its an improvement. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Btw can someone confirm if those Artifacts drop chances from the wiki are still correct? Last Elixir 20% Energy Drink 20% I just ask because since weeks now i got around five to six Elixir for one ED. This post has been edited by Uncle Stu: Jul 20 2018, 01:26

Then why the hell did i got in the last then days 24 LE but not even 10 ED? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) And dont come me with bad luck. It is like that since i returned around two months ago. Bad luck doesnt explain that. Or is that a special rule of the game? Closing in on lvl 500 and your chance to get ED drop to near zeri so you have to buy them? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
