For example, is it worth it to pay an extra 1mil for a rapier of nimble with parry at 90% percentile to another with parry of the 70% percentile? Do those little differences add up to significant figures when you max forge level or as you level up?
Maybe it goes case by case depending on the attribute?

sometimes you need to do a lot of forging, IW to make a nice Legendary piece perform properly, and that is a hell lot of things to throw in. and when you get a better piece to replace it, you can only get 90% of matarial back, so switching is somehow not cheap. so that may make people tend to get a better one.
But in your case here, I don't really get the idea that a rapier of nimble can sell over 1m. rapier, as a main hand weapon, only sell well with of slaughter suffix. for defence side, wakizashi would be much better.

The short answer: It's dependant on cirumstances/level/budget, item world success, and your willingness to soulfuse.

More specific to the scenario you describe: Unless you are very welathy, and trying for absolute peak performance, a million difference for 10% increase in parry precentile is (IMHO) probably not worth it. The biggest impact is going to come from forging and/or soul fusing.

Longer answer:

Many attributes have a very small absolute range, and so big differences in percentiles actually mean very small differences in absolute values.

With other attributes, especially the damage attributes, and to some extent the PABs, the absolute range is larger, so percentiles are more useful to gauge the differences in equipment.

Look at the base range for a few attributes for Legendary Fiery Rapier of Slaughter:
Attack Damage range (base):
44.08 - 51.33
Parry Chance range (base):
16.29 - 18.89


Now look at two actual rapiers:

Legendary Fiery Rapier of Slaughter Lvl500, PXP 360, ADB 67%, Parry 87%, Str 69%, Dex 56%, Agi 13%

Peerless Fiery Rapier of Slaughter Lvl447, IW 10, forged 100, ADB 100%, Parry 100%, Str 100%, Dex 100%, Agi 100%

If you look at the percentages alone, it won't tell you the full story. If you compare the base scores, and then the fully forged scores, that helps clarify what those numbers mean.

How much is the (maximum) difference between 30.35% and 31.63% parry worth to you? Are you planning to soul fuse the equipment, or attempt to resell it later? How much forging can you afford? Did you get lucky with IW, or have lots of time/credits to throw at IW retries?

Finally, it's worth noting that there are some big changes coming in how improving equipment works, and depending on your assumptions about when that will happen, what that will do to forging, soulfusing, the market value of cores and special materials/bindings, etc, you might want to only make smaller investments in equipment improvements. Or not. That will largely depend on your budget and risk tollerance, like any investment. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

spirit theft is the effect of drain. we almost never use this spell. It's not like imperil, not 0cd, and for ordinary mob they die very quick so you drain nothing.

Why/what is a percentile?

A [en.wikipedia.org] statistical term indicating where a number falls in a distribution. For example, something in the 99th percentile is better than nearly everything else in its category; something in the 75th percentile is better than 75%; something in the 25th percentile is better than 25%.

The default display style of equipment shows its scaled stats, which doesn't give you much of an idea of how good the stat actually is compared to other equipments: you have to hover over the stat to see its base value, and then you can compare its base value to the range of base values on the wiki. But this is tedious, and the base values themselves often don't hold much meaning until you reference the wiki, which is too big to memorize. Thus, percentiles: if you haven't memorized ADB ranges, but know that an equipment's ADB is in the 90th percentile, you know that it's well above average.

To calculate: Given a statValue, a statMinimum, and a statMaximum:
percentile = 100 * (statValue - statMinimum) / (statMaximum - statMinimum)

If you want to become a dark mage I would recommend you get a Legendary Demonic Willow of Destruction, charged phase, radiant phase and two pieces of Demon-fiend. After you increase your proficiency you might only need one cotton piece. Dark and Holy are the best styles aganist the schoolgirls. However its very expensive to forge mage gear beacuse of the Phazons. To fully forge a legendary radiant you'll need 100 phazons at 290k thats 29million on one piece alone plus that doesn't inculde bindings, catalysts, or high grade cloth. If you fully forge 4 raidiant pieces you'll be spending 116 million on phazons alone.
Unfortunately in order to slaughter the arenas in a short time you'll have to forge your gear as much as possible. I would recommend you try to level to 400 before buying mage gear. You'll be able to soulfuse everything so you'll have more options available than right now.
Electric and Wind mages also use willow staffs. Fire and Ice use redwood staffs but you can also use willow. I don't like willow for fire and ice thou. Yeah you get more counter resist but all other stats go down dramatically with a willow staff as opposed to redwood. Mage gear will also be expensive. The price range will go like this Holy/Dark> Wind/Electric > Fire/Ice.
It is very expensive to make the switch but once you do have a fully forged mage set the game gets pretty easy. You'll be able to clear arenas faster and you'll be able to play more. Well best of luck in your decision.

complete Arena from Power Flux to Eternal Darkness as fast as possible everyday for Credits
either on Normal or Hell
so I'm kinda of messing around a little with builds and such
seeing what works better
though I'm already assuming I probably should just go for a mage lol
one reason I didn't give it a try yet is cause I don't know shit at all about making a proper mage
the other play styles are a lot more straightforward when it comes to choosing gear lol
the most I understood is that if possible I should go for Dark Mage
and all my gear should be Phase and Demon-fiend
I think lol

for cheap mage at low difficulty, I'd say Fire or Ice would be much cheaper. Dark gear is expensive.

That is a useless staff and its only worth a core so in reality you only lost 50k. But its a good reminder to take care of your inventory. I lost legendary savage power of slaughter the same way. Just make sure you salvage useless gear from now on.
