QUOTE(sigo8 @ Oct 14 2017, 23:03) Two months seems like a good grace period, I don't think anyone who hasn't already fixed their monster names is going to fix them without them actually being disabled. It'd be about time, yes.

Okay then, I guess I understand what's happening sort of... (With proficiency adds at Dawn?
But I's still a bit unclear as to why i'm gaining proficiency in things I haven't used in, literally, years...
As in; I've been light armor for a long time, and haven't touched cloth and heavy. The OP kind made it sound like you still needed to use something to gain proficiency?

the dawn prof thing means free prof for everyone (*). enjoy (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif) (*) as long as they play at least a bare minimum, that is.

Because otherwise it would be somewhat impossible to switch to new persona/style with the way new profs work unless you were at level cap or played 10h/day.

How the heck do you think people were doing to play new styles? They worked really hard to get to use what they really deserved. I myself worked really hard to kepp all of my profs near my level, and I feel like I've been rewarded for this with a finger. And it did not take 10 hours a day to reach a decently playable proficiency, to begin with. If anything, it's an umpteenth thing that makes the game easier and I don't like it at all.

You're welcome to this opinion, but I've seen it expressed in many games over the years, and it is never a good opinion to hold. My advice, let it go. In any game, there is a difficulty curve. New content is easy, new players try it and get a little bit of success, and that lets them enjoy the game and keep interest in trying harder stuff. They may fail a little, but as long as it isn't too bad, they'll try again until they succeed. This is what keeps players having fun. Challenge. That challenge may not be very good and need to be adjusted up or down in order to please some players. If you're one of the ones that likes the challenge where it currently is, that change is bad in your opinion. Quit or live with it, because the change is being made for the better of the game overall, not just your personal preference. The other side of things is some players make it to "the end." In "difficult" games, making it to the end is a matter of pride. When the game is made easier, others can accomplish what you did, and have an easier time of it. You feel like this makes your accomplishment less impressive. Again, nobody actually cares about how big your e-penis is. If you enjoy the game, continue to enjoy it. If your only enjoyment is waving around a big e-penis, not only should you quit this game, you're going to struggle to find any game you'll actually enjoy. Instead, making the game less grindy and more fun is better for the game overall. More players get to enjoy more of the content in the game. It doesn't remove all the challenge, it just gets rid of some ridiculous requirements to try stuff out. In Hentaiverse, proficiency is an obvious bottleneck to trying different playstyles out. When you can switch styles just by changing what is in your hand, change stats by an enormous amount by switching personas, do you honestly feel like "no, you're locked into one playstyle because of proficiency" really fits the rest of the game's design? If so, you need to open your eyes a little wider and look past your personal preferences.

You Millennials have it too easy. When I was a kid, I had to walk 10 miles in the snow to HentaiVerse.

Like you, I take pride in the fact that I was at max proficiency in several stats before 0.86. HV is still a grind, but it is a little easier now, and I think that is a good thing. For example, new players using a melee fighting style will never again struggle to get the 40 Deprecating proficiency requried for Silence. This will remove a lot of fustration when new players start encountering monsters with SP attacks. Yes, it takes away some of the challenge to the game. However, the way I see it, this change rewarded us older folks not with the finger, but with having the satisfaction of having succesfully grinding proficiency, which is something the new players no longer have the opportunity to achieve. You forgot to add the fact that the walk in the snow we old folks had to take to get to HV was uphill both ways.

it was never hard to train profs up. and was abused that's why it was changed... (according to the notes) you could get profs easily upto your level by going to normal grindfest and spamming whatever it is you were levelling or defend for armor. (if you never change round you didn't have to worry about stamina riddlemasters or equipment damage.) And as someone who never plays outside normal that was true. (less than 2h week all my skills to level prof) Now with the new system (before dawn xp) it was impossible to keep your prof up to level unless you could survive pfudor and played 10h/day to offset the dawn exp. Now with dawn XP you profs will match you level regardless but the profs you actually used can overleveled something which was impossible before. had 10b kept the old system in place and just changed the prof cap everyone would have hit their new profcap in a matter of days. this system makes prof capping an earned benefit rather than a cheese benefit. Personally i do find thing system pretty much kills proficiency also but that's the way it is. The players at level cap already say the profs count for so little that the extra profs don't matter. (see past posts in thread)

Proficiency grinding received a massive nerf on 0.85, making it a nightmare to raise some profiencies (especially staff one). A change to the proficiency system was really needed.

And it was uphill with no shoes in both directions pulling a sled of coal to power the servers. They don't know how good they got it.

Okay, I just experienced something a bit odd after the dawn of a new day. Normally I use an random encounter timer to keep track of when they come up. I normally go straight to the hentaiverse page then use the link from this time to go to the news page. Today I did a RE just before dawn and that went fine. When the timer expired at dawn I clicked it and it took me to the news page all right but the dawn did not display (adblock is disabled on that page in case you're wondering). I opened up a new hentaiverse page and went to the arenas and all the cooldown timers had reset just like a normal dawn. So I figured I got the dawn EXP and it just didn't display. So I did the first Arena but after the first round the Dawn profs didn't show up as I expected. So I went back after finishing the Arena and refreshed the news page and the Dawn display showed up and all proceeded as normal from there. I use an older version of Chrome which I can no longer update due to my old operating system and have had the Dawn display fail to show up a few times but when I went back and did a round of combat the Dawn profs were there. Today is the first time it happened like this. Thoughts or opinions?

Might be due to the time change from daylight saving time back to standard time. That would make your dawn happen with an hour's difference.

I took that into account. This occurred at the time for Dawn after the change back from daylight saving time. The timer is just a bit off, as sometimes I click ready for a RE and then I have to refresh to get the display. I don't think that is what happened in this case though, as a few seconds are usually all that is needed and I am pretty sure it was a few minutes after Dawn when this happened.
