Is it OK for a mage to wear heavy armor if it's the only body armor I have? Does it ruin magic attacks at all like in other RPGs?

You can. Do know that the burden slows you down and interference lowers your magic damage a tiny bit for each point. Also, your spells can fail due to interference if your total interference is at least 20.

It does, non clothing armour/shoes/etc/ reduces your spell damage by 1% per interference, and after 20 interference, miss rate goes up.

Well., Katalox is the rarest type of Staff, though the lack of Elemental boost massive sucks.
