Clearly, Oak isn't as easy to get (at least for the rest of us). I don't think I've gotten an Oak Staff. (the Priestess was bought.)

Katalox, you're right on that point. While they are very rare, the very few I have seen, didn't impress me. I'll have to fix that when I update the staff section, which isn't a priority at the moment but, won't be forgotten, either.
I assume this does Soul damage instead of Crushing?

If so, I might be interested in using that as a prof grind toy when I get bored. PM me an offer.

Katalox, you're right on that point. While they are very rare, the very few I have seen, didn't impress me. I'll have to fix that when I update the staff section, which isn't a priority at the moment but, won't be forgotten, either.

Katalox are the most rare because they give bonuses to Holy and Dark damage, and well as proficiency bonuses to Divine, Forbidden, and Depreciating. I definitely wouldn't shun Katalox as being weak. There's a reason they are rare and cost 4-5 times as much as an equivalent quality staff of other wood types. That being said, you don't need one unless you're at least level 150 and are willing to invest AP into getting Holy and Dark AOEs and Ratings.

From my experience I'd say oak, ebony and willow all have about the same drop rate, with redwood being the most common and katalox being the rarest

Considering I have hundreds of staffs in my inventory and have sold thousands, I can say with confidence that the order of most common to least common is this:

1) Redwood (by far)
2) Ebony
3) Oak
4) Willow
5) Katalox

Redwoods are the all around balanced type, which explains why they are so common. Ebony, Oak, and Willow staffs are offense, defense, and melee intensive types, respectively, and as I've already said, Katalox are Holy and Dark oriented.

29% block, better than my 23.4% block shield, the attribute bonuses it has is so much worse than my current shield though, but I would safely say people don't equip shields primarily for the attribute bonuses.
