RE random leather

Im looking to build a tanky 2h character. Its my first character and I seem to get the hang of the mechanics. The game is relatively easy so far on Battletoads difficulty (Lv 41). Just spam Heroic Health pots, use Protect, and Defend a couple times. But the thing is I get my ass raped by elemental skills from random monsters. Im using light armor.

Questions are:

1.) What are Spirit points used for?
2.) Are there any other ways to improve armor/weapons besides the forge?
3.) What should I aim for in my stats as a 2H Longsword dude?

Also I fucked up the stats till I realized it was set up a la Dark Souls.

2. What weapon are you using? I'll send you an upgrade
3. Spirits are used as a resource for spirit stance and for advanced spells
4. I would recommend equalising all stats and having much lower INT (around 25% of cost needed to upgrade for next WIS point)
5. You can Item World weapons to gain potencies, but that's rather difficult if you aren't stronger

3. Ill keep that in mind thanks.
4. Its roughly what I have right now. INT is useless for me according to wiki.
5. I was almost able to finish one for this set of gauntlets at lv 50 but now its impossible as I leveled more. Im on Battletoads.
