If the mag is 343 pxp+ i'd gamble for it, since i get more HG from those.
Mag's around 336-342 pxp range seem to hand out MG more often.
In most cases, i still find it easier to get HG's from salvaging exq's,
as compared to mag's. Not because of the pxp, but because they're
easier to obtain, so you get more chances at gambling for an HG.
It's too bad legendaries don't guarantee an HG, when they're not as common.
