Yeah that's the one, I've been in negotiations to get my hands on it for about two weeks now.

I doubt you could get a better staff than that in the current version of HV. It would be massively expensive and time consuming, but you should at least try to fully upgrade its MDB.

Don't worry, I intend to once I've a set of phase that can stand in the same dimension as it.

This is gonna be the last staff I ever buy, unless very drastic changes are made to what's possible to drop for staves or somebody offered me a legendary silver tipped ebony staff of the owl ((IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)). I've a very soft spot for equipment I'm confident beyond reasonable doubt that I'll never need to replace for a better version, even if it did cost me 500 hath to buy.

Worth it? Worth it.

500 hath for that staff? The owner wouldn't even sell it unless he parts it for something he desperately needs. I don't think there is anything better unless a legendary ethereal katalox staff of destruction appears, but even then it might have only 1 PAB. At least the staff is very rare for a T2 item with legendary prefix.

I can't find the chart, but current Magnificent and Legendary drops all start needing 5 MG and increase need of HG as you upgrade, so nothing generated recently will need HG on the first upgrade. Some much older stuff with stats outside of the current limits (overall quality above current unit scale; 1 max) will start off needed HG. For example, my staff is ancient and reportedly has a quality of 1.4, which would explain why it started at 3 HG and 2 MG per upgrade. Fortunately it caps at 5 HG and doesn't start going to 6-8 HG.

It's a little depressing for me, but I knew those Exquisite+ bonuses would eventually produce something near my staff quality. Comparing magic scores, yours is only about 10% worse than mine (if you use Elec) but considerably easier to upgrade.

500 hath is a good price for that staff at current hath values.
