If there is such a script we can click item and see it's approximate value in auction and decide to send it to auction.

this script was made once (or an attempt was made), but it was a huge failure because market proved too volatile. But there are good lists of what is sellable in the auctions:

Superlatanium
kedama
decondelite

Unfortunately this is basically impossible to do because of how small the HV economy is compared to how many unique items there are - even in the price check thread we can only give vague guesses based on past market data, but they won't necessarily sell for the same amount a second time. It all depends on what buyers are interested at the time, and whether they're willing to compete for an item, and for how much.

Other trade goods are a little more predictable because they're still regularly moving, but any given piece of gear is really only an educated guess. It would be possible to build a database of past auction results, but those could be months or even years out of date.

The best thing to do would be to get an idea of what prefix/suffix combos are valuable - decondelite's auction has a fairly exhaustive list (see the 'level above 400' section - though there are a couple valuable things not listed there, like a few types of staffs) and, combined with Live Percentile Ranges, using the Price Check thread for anything that has reasonably high rolls on important stats (might want to get an estimate on say, a Fiery Redwood of Destruction above 50% magic damage base, to see if you want to auction it or sell yourself or keep it - but for a lower end roll, you may choose to just send it to auction regardless knowing it won't make a significantly high amount).

When you click on the UPDATE button in your auction, it says "This week auction is closed" and no update happens (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

That probably means also the auto-PM & auto-MM features are not working, so no warning coming in to alert us what has happened. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

The script can't handle 3 digits.

The 3 digit item codes were causing problems. In the process of trying to debug it I also found another subprocess that was taking a huge amount of time (20+ seconds) when there were tons of items.

I completely rewrote the core post-parsing function to make things faster. (it now runs in less than 1/10th of a second, instead of multiple seconds.) I'll be keeping an eye on things, but if anyone sees a post that looks like it isn't getting parsed as you'd expect, please post here or PM me and I'll fix it. That allowed me to debug and fix the 3-digit item code problem too.

I know this post in the current auction looks like it isn't being parsed correctly, but that's because there are some invisible trash characters between the item code and the bid numbers.

Wow I think this is like the 4th Peerless Jade Power Gauntlets of Slaughter in auction or lottery. I tried to bid on the last one, but this level 500 one should go to a level 500 player, so I'm not going to bid on it. (If it were level 499, I would bid).

Also since we were talking about shill bidding a long time ago, I just learned today that it's a serious problem on Yahoo Japan Auctions. Take a look at these auctions from a very bad seller.

He had a lot of negative feedbacks in a row a while back and several people pointed out that he is a shill seller. I set some snipe bids on his stuff through a proxy and sure enough he canceled all those auctions when they appeared to get no bids. And on every remaining auction, he bids on all hundreds of them using the same Buyer ID (who has accidentally won 4 times in his lifetime) no matter what kind of item.

Then if he doesn't get the price he wants, which is 99% of the time, he makes sure to win then just doesn't bother paying himself. Thus he may not have to pay any auction fees. I check YJA seller feedbacks in general and often see sellers with a few seemingly harmless negatives for canceled transactions and such. Only now do I realize that any seller with this kind of feedback may be a shiller.

I guess I've probably already been shilled up to pay more in the past many times without realizing it. Got to be more careful in the future. I've usually looked for obvious shill bidders though. Never seen anything as clear as this.

How big is the current proxy bid limit? I see a single person having 10 proxy bids, if everything ending in #xx.5 is one.
