The idea was to keep people from initially bidding `50k` then `52k` then `54k` and so on, which I'm afraid would be common enough and would waste a lot of time when there are two players competing where neither proxy bids. But many are proxy bidding these days, and those who aren't are still free to do so if they find manual bidding too tedious. We can try making mats' increment 3% no matter the current bid, see what happens, any objections?

My proxy bid for this week's fiery rapier didn't work, I guess this means if someone bids the same amount as a previously placed proxy bid, the regular bidder wins?

That's right, though it wasn't initially like that. Proxy bidders used to outbid manual bidders by 1k when at the limit, which I thought was fair because if someone bids more or the same earlier, that should qualify them for the item - but there were a bunch of complaints, so now the proxy bidder needs to type in a bid 1k higher for the same effect.

Like I've always said, whether someone's proxy bidding or manual bidding, bidding nice round numbers (like the next minimum bid increment) is setting yourself up to be outplayed. Best to bid 1k or 3k 10k or 11k or something more than the predictable increment.

Earlier proxy bid at the same amount trumps later proxy bid at the same amount.

If an exact same proxy bid trumps a later one, I feel the same should hold for proxy versus regular bids. That is how ebay and other auctions are set up.

I usually save doing that for my second proxy bid which is more serious. No sense in making a mess until the end. Looks like it didn't matter anyway, everyone came to fight over the fiery rapier at the end. Time for penalty taxes.

Ahaha, I spied on ravenfrost123 and now I know why he sounded familiar. He is the person who self-dropped the legendary hallowed rapier of slaughter which created a debate in price check. Considering that the Big Hand of e-Stark is already at 6m in this auction, ravenfrost's rapier probably does deserve 10m for its level.

Whee I won a power leggings I consider good enough to be endgame for only 50k. Since it's low level though I'll wear it without soulfuse and hopefully replace it with a slaughter when the right one for me comes along.

I got duplicated Automatically generated message Bid warning for just one wrong bid, both in PM & MM with a total of 4 msgs in slightly different sent time.

Besides I don't think it is necessary to warn user by PM & MM both, I guess MM is enough for notifying those don't come to forum occasionally.

the tax %tage is fixed based on time, but the money for the discount come from taxing people who snipe the auction, if there's only small number of people who snipe or they snipe low price goods then of course the discount will get lower.

Two people broke the rules by bidding over my proxy bid and then trying to cancel. The system canceled the bids of the first person, although I am not certain he truly intended to cancel. I think he tried to re-bid but at that point was automatically banned from the item. The second person tried to cancel but it was after 24 hours so he could not.

I would probably lose either way, but I didn't feel like getting into bid wars with multiple people who don't know what they are doing.
