I changed helmet's Lmin to 19.87 just this week in response to a PM by Kadokura questioning the initial 63% stat you can still see in the preview. Maybe I shouldn't have done that.

confirm. min and max depend on slot_roll multiplied by a fixed amount or something like that. for more infos, ask skillchip. he taught me the thing when i was coding my spreadsheets, but who remembers now...

either way, assuming gauntlets and leggings are correct (which should be, since spreads are coherent), i guess Lmin for helmet is roughly 22. this would also bring Lmax/Lmin spread for helmet to a reasonable amount (that is, intermediate between gauntlets and leggings).

I don't think a range would be added to the range database unless an equip with record low stat (or record high stat) was actually spotted. (Before the ranges got filled out, you could see in the past much narrower ranges.)

Lmax values are pretty set in stone, since we have lots of data from common Peerlesses. But the Lmin value of many equips is up in the air; we would need hundreds of Legendary-grade equips to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the current noted Lmin-Lmax spread error is below, say, 3%. (And this sort of statistical analysis is not being done, of course - just saying this to show that any Lmin stats noted are not so trustworthy)

Before, the minimum value was 22.58 (I've written it here on a sheet of paper). Then someone reported a new minimum (at the beginning of the year, if I'm not mistaken) and the value was changed on the wiki.

I don't think skillchip updates ranges manually; too easy to mess up. he tells people to POST to the ranges page instead.

Possibly, what's going on is that skillchip's setup isn't filtering out the old bugged equips.

I prefer correct over simple when 0 can mean "bugged lmin" and "real lmin".

Problem is, I think we've all gotten used to L-range percentiles, and if Power Slaughter becomes the one exception, I think it will confuse many people, many of whom do not read this thread or Ask the Experts (and may not even know English well). So I think I should guesstimate the current Helmet Lmin and stick to it.

Do you guys think I should just revert to my previous value of 22 21.89? (thanks EOAH) (I have never encountered a helmet with lower ADB.) Or does someone have a bit of confidence in another possible number?

Even though equipment comparison says 22.08, I'm sure I saw it unforged and it was 21.89

i vote for yes. just plot (lmax~lmin) spreads against slot mod, ordered by increasing slot mod. with 19.87 there's a very visible anomaly on helmet (sort of a spike), while with 22 it's almost a straight line (actually a bit more resembling a parabola, but i guess you understood what i mean)

I think it's probably the safest option.

But it's also not limited to power slaughter, power non slaughter boots probably have bugged LMin (last time I checked only boots generated soon after 0.82 have <11 ADB), and judging by sssss2's post many equipments had bugged ranges, so it's pretty much impossible to get correct LMin range without filtering by EID (power heavy seems the worst offender though).

I (finally) implemented what I think is an accurate forge base calculator, courtesy of info from Scremaz and others. Previously, there were errors of up to 10% or so, but now, hopefully, any errors will be 1% or less.

0.85 update:

When you send mails, if you're going to send items that aren't 100% guaranteed to sell, which many users have an annoying habit of doing, please send the items individually. This way I can return individual gears without sending back everything contained in the mail.


I think I have everything set up again for 0.85, but if anyone sees anything strange that I've missed, please tell me.

Sorry for delay, my computer with everything on it died, so I don't have access to my local auction tools this week (and maybe next week). The updater should still work, but I'll be doing everything else manually; eg I just copied the list from the auction preview into the auction thread and added the sellers, and I'll be sending all mails manually.

Since I can't build the auction lists without a whole lot of effort (and re-coding) now, I'll probably skip next week's auction if I don't get my main computer back in time.

Still being repaired, they are ordering a part that "could take 7-10 days to arrive" as of 8 days ago. I'm not happy, but at least I have a backup (without any of my stuff) in the meantime.
