So I typed in the wrong item number and only realized it with less than 24 hours on the clock (±23h 30min). Am I fucked? 🤦

Is it still possible to get bidkeys? It says to PM Superlatanium but he's not accepting PM's.

Send him a MoogleMail, and then be patient. When he gets round to it, he'll give you a bidkey in MM.

Please investigate Clo04 item case, peter723pan edited (and invalidated) his last bid just after revealing my max bid... making the final price of this equip unreasonable.

Attached Image Attached Image

You can also see in [reasoningtheory.net] public Edit Log that his bid was 2.29m before editing.

Imo, "all" of his bids in this item should be invalidated...

Usually, I just type random numbers on items I want and forget about it, but the high end price in this equip caught my attention, I'd really don't mind this value if it was legit bids, but his bid history in this item seems sketchy as f.

This type of bid behavior mustn't be encouraged.

I just returned Clo04 to Super to try to get his attention to this case...

Since people may not bother to look at what the real issue is, I'll try to elaborate:

Here are screenshots of peter723pan's bids in the forum:
Attached Image

And the same bids at Super's site:
Attached Image

Look how he started making bids ending in 9 (and just 1k under common round numbers), just trying to reveal my max bid...

As soon as he gets past my max bid he immediately get back and edit his last post, invalidating and canceling his bid, and forcing me to pay my max bid amount.

Here is the edit log in Super's site:
Attached Image

It's pretty obvious that he intentionally and dishonestly made bids to inflate the equip's price...

Proxy bids are limited in max 3 bids per item and can't be canceled or invalidated, it makes no sense to allow manual bids to both, unlimited bids and to cancel/invalidate their bids... it can only lead to this kind of situation.

I'll gladly accept the equip for 160k as I see this is the last valid bid on this item, since imo all peter723pan's bids should be invalidated.... also, imho, peter723pan should be banned for manual bid in future auctions.

As I said, this kind of bid behavior mustn't be encouraged, in this case it's an undesired and poor item, with an irrelevant amount of credits, but failing to address these kind of bid issue just make the offender feel comfortable to do it again, and others to do the same in future...

The final price is not the issue, I'll gladly donate the amount to Noni's current event if this issue gets addressed (rather put the credits to good use)...

Auctions should be a place for fair and legit bids.

Thanks for the donation. However, I accept it without conditions. If you want it back, just let me know.

It may be the case that this is dishonest bidding, but it could also be just a typo in the heat of last-minute bidwar. Superlatanium has installed mechanisms to compensate those who bid early and use proxy bids. So even when you get bid up then you get the discount of early bidding. It seems that this bidder may have decided last minute that he didn't want to win, but as he had been bidding earlier as well it does seem like he actually wanted the item.

In my conclusion, I can't be sure that this is foul play and even if it was, the damage that you suffered was the difference between the last regular counter bid and your max bid: not that great.

Let's leave it here. If this becomes a recurring pattern, then measures will be taken.

The donation is symbolic and should be used regardless of how this ends up... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I understand your considerations, however, there's absolutely no reason to bid exactly 1k lower than the next common round number if you want to win the item, it's always done just to reveal a max bid... specially since if I had bid a round number, a manual bid equal to it would have precedence and would win.

He just back tracked and edited the post when he saw he got past my max amount, if he wanted to win it, he could have just leave the bid as is.

And see how he last edited bid was again 1k under a common next round number (2.29m)... Had my max bid be 2.3m and revealed, would he bid again to win it?

C'mon??! it's a Mystic Phase with 15% EDB! which sane person would bid 2.369m on that? ...he's either completely dishonest or extremely stupid!

If his 2.29m bid had revealed my max bid (of hypothetically 2.3m), he'd just stop and get way with it, since his bids would appear to be "normal"... he edited it only cause he saw he fucked up.

What "I" "think" had happened is... he wanted the equip, he bid honestly till 380k, he gets mad and start making fake bids trying to force me pay my max bid (1k lower than what he thinks my bid may be), he fucks up and invalidate his last bid.

Other than that, the only other possibility, would be a user collaborating with the seller to inflate item price intentionally... which I don't think is the case.

Anyway, the item is returned, I won't accept paying 2m credits for it with such bid history....

Either send me the item again for 160k (the last valid bid in my opinion), or send the item to peter723pan with the same price as it was CoD to me, since he wanted the item so bad he will be happy!

And it will still be cheaper than his last bid (2.29m) or his new edited bid (2.19m), now everyone's happy!

I repeat, this kind of bid behavior should not be encouraged.

The rules at the top of the post say,
QUOTE(Superlatanium @ Jan 13 2023, 11:14) *
  • Bids made via forum post can be canceled by typing itemcode cancel in a subsequent post before the last 24 hours of the auction, but should not be done after. If you mistype, you can edit your post to invalidate your bid if you have not revealed a proxy bid.

Italics in original.

So it's very clear. It's a known technical issue with the auction system that a bid can be cancelled by editing, after a cancel command would no longer be accepted, and the rules address it. peter723pan was not allowed to cancel his bid by editing his post. He is the winner, and he is required to buy the item at the full 2.29m which he bid.

Also, Xeda needs to pay his 5358k bid on Clo06. He did the same thing to Chanman.

Dig through the older auctions.

[reasoningtheory.net] Bid Log: Thread 263215
Xeda doing it to Chanman on Sta15. Bid 3032k -> overshot proxy bid of 2960k -> cancelled back to 2857k.

[reasoningtheory.net] Bid Log: Thread 263023
peter723pan doing it to what_is_name on Lig02. 4.88M -> revealed proxy bid -> edited to 4.2m right under the proxy bid of 4444k.

[reasoningtheory.net] Bid Log: Thread 262842
Xeda doing it to Chanman on Clo07. Bid 5871k -> overshot proxy bid -> cancelled. Chanman was already near max from another player's bid.
peter723pan -> Chanman, also on Clo07. Bid 5.99m -> overshot proxy bid -> edited to 5.8m

[reasoningtheory.net] Edit Log: Thread 262630 (Auction of 2022 Dec 03)
Xeda -> Chanman on Clo22. Bid 172k, overshot proxy, fell back to 112k.

[reasoningtheory.net] Edit Log: Thread 262371 (Auction of 2022 Nov 26)
Xeda -> Chanman on Clo28. Bid 4450k, overshot proxy, fell back to 4244k.
Xeda -> Chanman on Clo15. Bid 545k, overshot proxy, fell back to 445k.

How far back do you need to go? It's pretty obviously deliberate vindictive behavior, in violation of the rules, on some players' parts.

Thanks Necromusume for investigating further on the issue... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I had though about doing the same and look into past auctions, but I'm lazy as fuck((IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)) and thought that pointing the obvious would be enough to expose the behavior.

It's also hilarious that both peter723pan and Xeda edited they last post again "today", maybe trying to cover something... but Super's system just logged out the edits again anyway... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

(It can be seen in last auction's [reasoningtheory.net] Edit Log)

I'm donating 2.29m to you too for your work investigating it! (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

It seems pretty obvious none of those was an honest mistake, but I doubt anything happening. Super isn't too active.

Seeing such behaviour rewarded with a (temp) ban from auction's would seem reasonable, it was not a one time thing for either of them. You could probably find more cases too. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

I agree that Peterpan has broken the auction rules. I hope the actioneer notices and takes action. Superlatanium is hard to reach these days, so there is little we can do as forum mods. It would be very convenient to have an auctioneer that is reachable in case of trouble. But we don't have that luxury atm.

Note that neither Xeda or Peterpan edited their bids 'today' (on the day or your reply in this thread, e-Stark), as the thread was locked since early Jan 15th. The editing was done on the day of the auction end. And yes, that breaks the rules of that auctioneer. Superlatanium should take appropriate action against them.

I think mods can ban users from posting in certain areas of the forum? (correct me please)

If that's possible, and if Super don't act on the issue giving the deserved bans, I think mods could explicitly list the offenders in a thread like this, forbidding them from manual bidding in future Super's Auctions... anyone who gets caught cheating or breaking the rules would get warned and added to the same list...
If the offenders ignore the warning and still manual bid on an auction, mods could ban them from ever posting again at WTS forum section (this could be temporary till they learn to not manual bid again)

Note that I think banning them just from manual bids is still light punishment, it's very forgiving and we'll still allow them to use the auctions by using proxy bids... since proxy bids are limited and can't be canceled, there's little harm that can be done with it.

Dunno how this works, and maybe I'm dumb about time zones... but this is what I see when I look in Super's Edit Log page right now:

the forum doesn't allow banning for specific threads. Requesting a ban from tenboro is too harsh for this kind of offense. I'll discuss with the other mods about what we can do.
