Hello scanlators,

I figure we'd need a thread for font recommendations, identifications, critiques, etc. for our scanlation projects. So here it is!

As a start I'd like to have a recommendation for fonts for this doujin that I'm currently translating + editing on:


Fonts required are for one lovey-dovey demure princess type character and a princely young admiral character.
The fonts in the pic above are picked by myself, I felt they're kinda okay, but I'd appreciate recommendations!

Fonts used: KG Love Somebody Regular & Borders Divide, But Hearts Shall Conquer Regular

Anything by [www.dafont.com] Vanessa Bays will work. I personally use Anjelika Rose and Cutie Patootie.

Should I use consistent fonts in a doujin or should I change with every page?

Every page, no. For different types of bubbles, that's where you can get a bit creative.

Nice! That's a wide variety of good fonts.

I aspire to use different type of fonts for different speech bubble tones / characters with different personalities consistently across a doujin. But alas, I am too lazy / busy for that.

It would be nice to put a phone/mail font on the text message bubbles, but I'm kind of lost. I tried a few monospaced fonts, but in the centered text bubbles looks "bad" and then tried with some typical fonts and doesn't look too good...

Which font would you recommend me?

Atomicpuppy, i got a thread i my section that would require your attention. You know, we do not like to talk about people behind their backs (most of the time).

On topic: i'm not sure how many of you have used it already but [www.google.com] google fonts has never let me down. Although it is a little convoluted you can download the TTFs from there.

It looks like one version or the other of Kiss And Tell.....it matches up almost exactly to the one I have (CCKissAndTellInt) with the "i" done in cap and in italic.

It's not exact, but it's really close...

The general one looks like Zud Juice.

Other one is CCZoinks.

Edit, you're right, it's Yikes which looks 99.9% like Zoinks.

Thank you so much ! It's the right Font, yet it doesn't have accents, and I'm doing French translations. So I guess I'll stick to the old Comic Sans MS.

Meh... Yikes ! and CCZoinks doesn't have accents too, but it could be okay for those...

I recommend using CC Monologous, CC Chatterbox or even CC Samaritan, they all have accents. Just... not Comic Sans.

Has someone recommendations on "scared" fonts ? Like undulating or melting text ? Dynamic Fonts also ; big ones, like the one I was searching for (CCZoinks).
