I got to 85 using a few average mana pots, but I'm pretty convinced the second winds of magic are the real deciding factor. I'm thinking about seeing exactly how far this thing can go...

Came in with 3 MP, no magic items, and 8 turns of Shield left. Before this I got to Round 8 three times and had to Flee each time. Oddly, whether on Cake or Normal, I'd usually only last 4-5 rounds before.

It mostly comes down to using Regen and plowing through round after round in grindfest. If you're lucky enough to get a good second wind on your magic you could buy yourself another 4-5 rounds. If you actually use some items to keep your magic up you can climb ever higher. Honestly though, it's better to do grindfest on normal since you get more bang for your buck and doing 50+ rounds of grindfest is damn boring.

Yeah, pretty boring. Two clicks per enemy and done. I used some higher level mana items and it gave me a bunch of second winds in the middle. I went from about 60 to 90 without using any items because of it.

I just wanted to see how far you could go without any interferrence from legendaries too, but it takes way too long for it to start giving good items to make me want to do it repeatedly on cake.

More bang for you buck huh? I guess that depends on what your goal is.

I'm going to guess he doesn't care much. I hardly even do hourlies anymore unless it pops up while I'm not busy with something else.
