Meaning that for us lower level players, this method does not really work.

Low level people aren't supposed to be able to beat the hardest monster on the hardest difficulty. In any game. And by low level in this case, I mean people under level 250.

Not until Tenboro adds an ability tree above 250 with something more useful than Soul Fire/Burst and Lifestream.

And no one will ever reach 500 if he refuses to add anything. I'm already approaching 1 billion EXP per level as it is.

Ah... I still can`t bring myself to do Blue Skies. This just takes too long (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

I didn't get hit with normal attacks vs IPU but vs FSM I did from time to time.

The monsters have accuracy after all, we just don't know how works.

Did you use channeling and cast soulburst when you could? When I did RL I just used my demon-fiend stuff and it was faster. With your stuff, you could do it in ~750 turns I'd bet.

I was originally planning to get the good Curse-Weaver staff Hito had in his auction before doing this, but then it mysteriously vanished out of the listing, so I was like, fuck it. Probably wouldn't have made all that much of a difference anyway.

So yay. Done. Never doing it again.

I found a note saying "Beat FSM with staff". Had I beaten him, or it was it an instruction to do so? Then I remembered that I keep that kind of thing written down, and yes, I had beaten him. It was about three months ago, but I haven't had much opportunity to play HV since then, so I think I was probably at or close to level 187. So, er,

Strategy was similar to the one I used against the IPU. I wore cloth Spirit-Ward gear and one Heimdall piece, for 67.7% Dark mitigation. (Well, I only have the one Heimdall piece, so I wasn't as if I had to give much thought to balancing damage output against mitigation...) I chose not to use my Katalox Staff of Heimdall because of its relatively poor ET, even though it would probably have done slightly more damage than my Ebony Staff of Destruction.

I was able to use Silence, and needed Haste, SV and Regen II to keep up with the damage. I cast Holy spells and tried for ET/Channeling whenever I could. It turned out that Banish used up my mana quite quickly, and Purge more slowly. Smite was about neutral, while Condemn allowed me to regain mana. So, after establishing this, I mostly used Smite.

Battle lasted 1627 rounds, with no items used.
