IIRC the shield/barrier ratings aren't changed between difficulties, only HP and attack/magic ratings.

Well that's not correct then since I've already used this method on both Normal and IWBTH and the damage range wasn't the same using only AF.

The average damage on normal was several hundred points higher than on IWBTH.

This is with just my Holy set on Normal:

Regular damage:
6 4 Spreading Poison hits Flying Spaghetti Monster for 454 damage.

Flower Vase:
14 5 Spreading Poison hits Flying Spaghetti Monster for 1772 damage.

Flower Vase + Gum:
18 5 Spreading Poison hits Flying Spaghetti Monster for 3875 damage.

So yeah.

Gum is just HP/MP Elixir + all crits.

This also can't be right unless Poison can land as a critical hit. Not to mention the giant damage increase my Banish gets.

We know the Vase works by increasing your attack/magic rating (amongst other things). I suspect the Gum does the same. I suppose it might debuff all your enemies instead, a bit like giving everything PA - though that would be more complicated. Don't know if there's any way to tell the difference.

Now I'm curious as to how high I could get it. I got as much as 1750 from AF only.

But, it's not worth wasting 3 tokens, a vase, and a gum.

I didn't use channeling when i cast those first spell, but I still can't get close to your damage. I wouldn't be surprised if you can do 10-15k vs FSM.

You know my equipment isn't as good as your and your DP is probably +100 points more then mine. Do you think the difference in damage is just your higher DP or maybe its your staff MDM + your higher INT/WIS

Were you ever able to cast a channeling nerf+poison when you had gum and vase active? I wasn't able to do that, but wouldn't that give a lot more damage? Also the range of my poison damage changed a lot from cast to cast, I think I had all the same spells cast with channeling each time but it would drop a few 1000 points.

I think my proficiency was about 600. I doubt MDM boosts it since it was very low on the staff I used, but Magic Rating from INT/WIS probably boosts it some.

I never used gum, but I did cast with nerf + channeling + vase when I got the 5k+ damage. I'm pretty sure that channeling doesn't influence the damage from poison at all. I think it only increases the duration by 50% for depreciating/supportive/regen spells. Otherwise, channeling would boost lifestream damage, and it definitely doesn't do that.

About poison, yes magic rating increase poison dmg, boggy confirmed that with Tenb some time ago.
mdm not, I tested poison dmg with AF vs without AF.
Oh, and no wonder flower vase increase the poison dmg so high:

I didn't get hit with normal attacks vs IPU but vs FSM I did from time to time. The damage wasn't bad but I took more damage if I didn't use channeling to cast weaken/blind. Shadow Vile was on auto cast so that also made a big difference. hitokiri84 said he didn't get hit by normal attacks with ~600 DP where I had ~530 and did from time to time.

I wouldn't say that since they are about the same level as you. I didn't need regen II or Lifestream to get my life back, cure 1 was fine but if I had channeling I would still cast regen II and Lifestream. The high poison does a good job of keeping their mana points low so they don't cast many spells and the blind/shadow fail takes care of their spirit attacks most of the time.

What you need is someone around level 150 and 200 to try and kill them with poison.

Low level people aren't supposed to be able to beat the hardest monster on the hardest difficulty. In any game. And by low level in this case, I mean people under level 250.

Not until Tenboro adds an ability tree above 250 with something more useful than Soul Fire/Burst and Lifestream.

And no one will ever reach 500 if he refuses to add anything. I'm already approaching 1 billion EXP per level as it is.
