(IMG:[ i52.tinypic.com] http://i52.tinypic.com/neaou9.png) Round 1883 (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I kept waiting for a boss to appear and horribly rape me. I probably could have kept going until I hit one, if I had thought to bring some spirit items. Hmmm, I kinda wanted to get to 2000 too. X-magic might help, since it might make Cure not totally useless. Although around that point even normal enemies can one shot me at full hp if they crit. What's the highest anyone's done? Or bothered to do I might say. This post has been edited by Conquest101: Sep 9 2010, 16:33

I think someone did 8000 back before the mobs got stronger each round. Now, I think boggy holds the record at 3000ish. But I could be wrong...

Or bothered to do I might say. After hitting level 200(yes X-magic also rocks you'll see), and switching my staff for a "focus", I only get a monster survived (resisted of course) every 10 rounds, no problem with mind reapers or mantras since you can use higher tiers, for bosses, well killing very fast is the key, and spark so I survive always, but this for what? I yes that's because once you reach this point of mcc, power and level, even the SP is recovered fast enough for spark, cure is practical useless, and yes that means that this become more a matter of luck/concentration how much farther way you go on NormalFest. I don't know how Boggyb reached, but it's pointless, since probably he can reach 10.000 or 20.000, just that's too much of a effort don't you think? IMO HardFest should be now the way to track how "good" your griding mage set is.

I'd say Battletoadfest is a better indicator. And I mean battletoadfest without using ether theft to restore mana.

I agree with the 2nd part, but not with the 1st, since the best "testing difficulty" depends directly on the player's gear/level/prof. This post has been edited by cmdct: Sep 11 2010, 03:06

On a somewhat related note, what's the standard practice for clearing the higher arenas on Battletoads? I ask because I'm a few levels out from the Trio and would like to attempt it at BT for the sake of maybe getting an exquisite.
I believe I have to sleep enemies and fight them one at a time? If so, I need to work on getting my deprecating prof. capped or close to it at least. The efficiency of that would seem bad once I hit 5/6 enemies to a round. Especially since I usually get hit before I'm done sleeping that many enemies, though I would assume X-magic will help with this. Or does X-magic make it possible to actually nuke enemies without getting horribly mauled? I doubt it, but I figure I'd ask.
Edit: Hmm probably should have asked this in the Experts thread. My bad.

I'd only suggest that on the last round.

Hmm, so it's possible to clear the 6 enemy, 5 miniboss rounds with regular nuking? As it stands right now, I can't manage it. The damage I take is too high.

Define what you mean by "regular nuking". I wouldn't suggest attempting to power through every round non-stop. It can be done, but it will leave you with no mana elixirs in the last round where they are most useful. Any time you end a round with a single living enemy, I would suggest attempting to regain some mana via ether theft and recasting any essential spell that has ran low.

That's basically what I meant. Using the usual round of elemental spells and not relying on sleep. I understand that I probably shouldn't go through all 100 rounds non-stop heh. Still, if it's doable that way, it's certainly better than the tedious trudge I thought I'd have to deal with in order to do it. Thanks Boggy. Edit: And yeah, good idea. I PM'd toro. Worst comes to worst, I'll just try it and see lol. This post has been edited by Conquest101: Sep 11 2010, 06:55

If I was you, I would talk to Torotuna and see how he beat it because he did it immediately upon reaching 200.

RE: Battletoads Trio & Tree The first time I did it I put everything to sleep and killed them one by one. At some point during my four attempts I realized that I could just AOE normal monsters and more or less do the same with mini-bosses. I used weaken and blind on Mind Rapers to cut down on toddlerguro crits one-shotting me and using up all my SP; of course, I was trying to do it without items. If you use items, just take some elixirs to reduce total time needed and the annoyance of constantly using ET to refill your MP. My relevant stats were - 50% evade, destruction staff 37%MDM (36% 3 Turn ET), ELEM prof maxed, DEP prof 170, SUP and CUR prof 160ish, IA level two (using shield) [which you don't need, it's just for the extra SUP prof chance]. About deprecating magic: You'll want as much prof as you can get. Having to recast sleep in the last round is a real annoyance, so much so that in my last three play throughs I used a curse-weaver robe to make sleep last for a few extra turns. It reduced my evade by 5%, but it was worth it. Other considerations: I put all of my DEP and SUP spells in the quick cast bar. Opening the menu each time to cast one gets old fast, and you will be casting them over and over again. Using nerf before using poison will make it do more damage, in case you didn't know. In the last round whittle everyone's hp down to almost nothing before killing them one by one to avoid the special effects they get when one of them dies. Also, make SURE you whittle the tree (pun?) down first and kill him last because he can heal the others instantly and you'll have to whittle them all down again. It happened to me... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) Bottom line: It's not that hard, just time consuming and dull. You can do a few arenas on battletoads to get a feel for it. I did 160 rounds of battletoads IW last night and didn't cast sleep once.

@Torotuna Thanks for the reply. It's good to know I won't have to rely on sleep until the end. @hito 83.4% evade huh. I am now officially depressed (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

QUOTE(hitokiri84 @ Sep 11 2010, 17:41) ![*](style_images/ambience/post_snapback.gif) Also, not hard when you have 83.4% evade, this staff (MDM and ET being the key stats,) and soul fire/burst. The end results are pretty nice though for about 90 minutes of play. [ i422.photobucket.com] http://i422.photobucket.com/albums/pp308/h...etoadTrio-1.pngDAMMIT! You just have to show up every once in a while to make us all feel bad, you magnificent bastard!

I just beat the IPU on Battletoads. 4034 turns. Having spells disappear numerous times was bad. Losing 80% of a mana elixir was worse.

Very nice. Did you use high mitigation or high evade? Also, what was its HP total? It was months ago but IIRC Battletoad RL had something like 7 million 4.4M HP, which is a fraction of what I expect IPU and FSM to be.
