Because higher difficulties are much harder for mages than they are for other player types. The reason being that they rely on clearing rounds in 1 or 2 turns to avoid taking damage. Melee characters take more damage as well but they are better equipped to take/avoid it (parry).

You mean in battletoads we'll see rather melee than mages to break records, that's good.

Maybe. Maybe not. I just know I'm not going to try to do stuff on battletoads. I don't see there being much of a benefit. I might try to do arenas on hard rather than normal to maximize my experience gain, but I probably need more elementalist gear.

Let's see this example, I suppose a guy like cmal have is overcharged boost capped which means he have a total of 270% of overcharge if I'm not mistaken, and also have probably 15 items slots, so if he puts in there 10 soul stones he can have a total of 2970% overcharge, and still having space for 5 mana elixirs, now he equips niten, don't forget +300% is like double your power damage as if you haven't no AP spend in overcharge boost, so making the count, he would have a ~9,5X power than he would have if he had only 100% overcharge. Now if I recall the difference in mob's HP between normal and battletoads is 10X, so he wouldn't loss many time doing it, expect losing the items he spent. But to someone doing that, it might be improbable to happen (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) @Bobbyb: you also said before that mages can have the most potencial single target damage, but I think it's not. Ok ok, I made a mistake here, but on my defence I'm not at that level and its not the point, you can still fill with 10 soul stones don't you? Edit: ok I made a mistake 2970% overcharge actually don't give ~9,5X, but ~21,1X (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) A hit can give me ~900 damage already (with PA), if I multiply for 21,1 I have a total of 18,990 damage per hit, and that's about the same damage the blasts of high levels mages are doing now, but it only because I only considering the damage of a hit at my level, a real hit at +180 level should make much more damage. I wasn't paying too much attention because the idea of someone using 10 soul stones in one battle is absurd, but there is no way you could get to 2970% overcharge. 270% base + (100% *10)= 1270%.
