QUOTE(marcho @ Jan 8 2010, 09:20) I clear endgame on ~3 average mana draughts and I'm about your level, which means you are either a) spending to much mana on offensive spells, (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) not enough on preventative/defensive spells, or c) you might look in to upgrading your equipment. Dang! 3 avg for all of Endgame? What build are you? I'm almost the same level, and it takes me 5+ Greaters/Superiors. As for my own contribution: (IMG:[ i48.tinypic.com] http://i48.tinypic.com/zl6d1j.png) I just went in to test the waters, 'cause I knew my Forbidden Prof wasn't anywhere near high enough. Soul Harvest was hitting him, with PA, for ~350 >_<. I managed to learn several important tidbits about Real Life, though: 1) Infusion of Gaea is fairly effective against Real Life. I was getting ~180-200 dmg per PA'd attack against RL with it up, which is about how much I'd expect from an ethereal weapon, from what I've read about folks who actually have one. Also, although it turns your melee damage into Soul damage, Infusion of Gaea does not give Soul Rating. My Soul Harvests were hitting for the same amount with it as they were without it. I'm thinking that it may make sense to use several Infusions of Gaia to emulate an ethereal weapon, rather than using PA+Soul Harvest. I think that the mana I save on not having to spend 17 mana for every meaningful attack will give me enough inventory room to carry Infusions that will last for the whole battle (since Gaea lasts 50 turns each). Still gotta do the math on that. 2) All of RL's skills are physical! That means you don't need to keep Bewilder up; Weaken will nerf everything he does except Internet Shutdown. 3) When Internet Shutdown hits, it's going to one-shot me whether I have Bewilder up or not. 10k crit means ~6600 regular, ~3300 Bewildered. Far more HP than I can have at this level, even with full HP tanks. So, I absolutely need enough Spirit to keep Spark working throughout the fight. Gotta figure out how best to accomplish that, but I think swapping a few Mana Elixirs for Last Elixirs should do the trick. If you've got any Last Elixirs for sale/trade, let me know! (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)4) This is the first time I've ever had Spark proc, so I have a few question for the experts: 4a) How much SP does Spark use up when it triggers? I lost 57, but I'd heard that it's supposed to use about 30% of base SP. I have 9 AP in SP boost, so 57 is way more than 30%. Maybe it's 50%? 4b) How come I have so much HP left after spark triggered? I thought you were supposed to survive with just 1 HP, but I have far more HP left than 1 + my single regen tick. 5) Really minor thing, but the "Ripened Soul" effect from Soul spells interacts interestingly with the "1 damage per attack" defenses that Ryokuo and above have. The tooltip doesn't say it, but it actually causes your next attack to drain HP from your target. It's a really small amount (59 at my level), but it makes your attack deal that extra 59 damage. The only reason I realized this is because I knew that my regular attack was dealing 1 damage, but the battle log said it hit for 60. Sadly, Ripened Soul goes away after the first proc, like Absorb.

Spark's SP consumption and HP return depend on how many points you have in it. The 1HP thing is old, outdated info. You can check Sonic's Calc (see the Fun Facts tab of the HV Stats page) for data on how much SP/HP your Spark will do.

Currently, duel wield or 1h-s for arenas depending on my mood, low interference/burden high avoidance build. I'm sorta hard to classify though, I kinda wander.
Weapon proficiency One-handed 91.57
Two-handed 102.25
Dual wielding 89.38
Staff 103.17
Armor proficiency Shield 77.78
Cloth armor 105.00
Light armor 97.75
Heavy armor 104.68
---
For Real Life yeah you seem to have the right idea, PA + soul damage and poison.

The biggest reason Marcho uses less items then you is that his evade is very high, since his gear is overall much better then most people playing.
A good strategy to use in the higher arenas with only 1-2 monsters for those first few rounds is to limit the amount of mana you burn early on. Assuming you have pretty good gear your can probably get to around round 10 of Endgame using only a couple regens.

MBP Killed! (IMG:[ gannonman.com] http://gannonman.com/image/MBP01_587746816.jpg) That was anticlimactic I was expecting an "EPIC BATTLE for the AGES!", and it seemed more like a IW Round 3 Boss battle. Of course, I brought these... Mana Elixir Mana Elixir Mana Elixir Mana Elixir Flower Vase Soul Stone Scroll of the Avatar Scroll of the GodsI only used the Scrolls and the Stone at the start. From there it was just attack, catch PA+Poison, and catch bleed. I even forgot to cast Weaken+Bewilder for a while. Best of all, and a major relief - Total (non-scroll) Magic used... Poison * 2 Regen * 2 Weaken * 1 Bewilder * 1 So, I obviously don't need the Flower Vase or a new 40,000 Credit Item Slot. However, I don't want to get too cocky based on one Ring of Blood battle so, I'll get the slot and use it (and the F-Vase slot) to add two more Mana Elixir to fuel my Elemental AOE grind up to Round 20 of Endgame, saving ME #6 for the Boss. Well, I have an 11 hour wait on getting that item slot so, Endgame, First Try, will be this (Saturday) night.

I wonder why you're so obsessed with building up your Overcharge. You do know it only boosts melee attacks, right? I strongly suggest you get Haste, if you don't already have it. I kept it after switching my abilities back to "normal", and it really is the dog's bollocks when it comes to overall damage reduction. Don't do the math. You won't like the answer.

QUOTE(Alpha 7 @ Jan 9 2010, 02:16) Congrats on the kill! I think you'll be surprised at how easy the bosses are, honestly. Battles against single monsters really only get to be "EPIC" once you start fighting Lengendaries and Gods. The bosses are really just minibosses with strong (but not one-shot lethal) spirit attacks and more HP. QUOTE I only used the Scrolls and the Stone at the start.
I just want to confirm here: did you remember to fill your overcharge gauge before using the Soul Stone? If you don't, you got a much smaller benefit than you could have. What a Soul Stone actually does is add to your current overcharge value, so of you're not maxed yet when you use it, you'll be wasting a bunch of it's effect on something you could have done by simply attacking.

REAL LIFE DEFEATED! 0 2 Spawned Monster A: MID=24 (Real Life) LV=102 HP=181295 MP=74 SP=113 NA=59 Type=hostile 0 1 Initializing arena challenge #109 (Round 1 / 1) ... 0 0 Battle Start! (IMG:[ i49.tinypic.com] http://i49.tinypic.com/11mddlz.png) It cost me all but 2 of my Mana Elixirs, and a Soul Stone, but I got him! When I was about half way through my Mana Elixirs, he wasn't half way dead yet. I was really fretting for those last hundred turns or so, but I must have gotten a better overall damage per turn during the second half of the fight, because I still had a Mana Elixir left at the end. First, I have to give a huge thanx to Marcho, for very kindly letting me borrow his Ethereal Estoc and Phase Robe. There's no freaking WAY I could have killed this bitch with Infusions of Gaea. He's got way too much HP. That said, he didn't cast Internet Shutdown a single time >_<. I spent 700+ mana re-casting Spark over and over, since I know for a fact that IS will one-shot me even with Bewilder, only to not even need it. AAAARRRRGG. Additional thanks to Marcho for the suggestion of using Slow. It massively boosted my PA uptime, and slowed Real Life's damage against me such that I only needed to cast 3 Cures for the entire battle (to supplement my Regens). He also suggested Shadow Veil on Autocast, and I used it, but I did the math and I don't think it was worth it. It cost me 474 mana to keep that going for 791 turns, and is was giving me 12.5% additional evade. STAT's final battle readout shows that I got hit 164 times, but it's total and avg readouts seem to be wrong ( hey cmal, we should look into that). I estimated that I took about 260 damage per hit on avg, which means that SV saved me about 5000 damage taken. That's far less than 474 mana worth of Cures, especially since Regen was active while I was at full HP for several dozen turns. If my supportive prof were as good as Marcho's, though, it might be different. I'm gonna go pay IPU a visit with my Holy Resist gear on, just to see what I can expect from him. EDIT: So IPU hits fairly hard. With my 67% holy mitigation, I'm taking hits for ~250 and crits for ~350, but that's without Weaken (I plan to Silence him). He's got about 50% more HP than Real Life, and takes somewhat less damage from my attacks. I'm going to wait until level 110, so I can Silence him, but I think with the full 12 item slots I'll have by then (I'm 20k credits shy of Pack Rat 5) will be enough Mana Elixirs to beat him. I also discovered that Poison is significantly weaker against IPU than Real Life. It was ticking for about 70 damage. I'm wondering if it'll be worth using at all, since IPU's regen rates wont matter, due to him being Silenced. If I skip poison on the ability tree, I can use those 5 AP elsewhere. Hmmmmmm. This is why Silence is good: 82 4 Perplexing Paradox hits you for 14511 soul damage. 82 3 Invisible Pink Unicorn casts Perplexing Paradox This post has been edited by coredumperror: Jan 10 2010, 06:11

Gratz.
Ah, I thought shadow veil might be useful for dodging IS so ya would burn less sp on spark, apparently that doesn't happen nearly as often as I thought it would :/ mah bad.
Good luck with IPU lol, it has like.. 10x the hp of Real Life.

Real life down too ! 744 14 You gain 50642 Credits! 744 13 You gain 18676.2 EXP! 744 12 Your HP and MP have been fully restored! 744 11 Arena Token Bonus! Received: [Token of Healing] 744 10 Arena Clear Bonus! Received: [Godly Health Potion] 744 9 Real Life dropped [Black T-Shirt] 744 8 You are Victorious! 744 7 The effect Penetrated Armor on Real Life has expired. 744 6 The effect Bewildered on Real Life has expired. 744 5 The effect Weakened on Real Life has expired. 744 4 Real Life has been defeated. 744 3 Spreading Poison hits Real Life for 381 damage. 744 2 You block the attack from Real Life. 744 1 You hit Real Life for 1 piercing damage. At lvl 170+ it's not really an accomplishment, but i don't have any ethereal weapon nor do i even have 1 point in Divine or Forbidden proficiencies. I just wanted to test and see what's doable with only infusions and elixirs. Looks like it's killable. All of my 6 Infusion of Gaia, 5 Mana Elixir, and 1 scroll of the gods where used. 1 Infusion on Gaia only last for 10-12% of it's hp, so i ended up doing ~30% or so only with spreading poison hitting for 300-400 on average (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I have a quite good avoidance with my recently dropped 38.5% block shield, so it hitted me with it's soul attack only once for ~7k, absorbed by my spark of life. I'll now gather intel on IPU before checking it out.

Endgame Cleared! (IMG:[ gannonman.com] http://gannonman.com/image/ENDGAME_414310817.jpg) Following two Real Life kills, it's almost an embarrassment, but I did it! It was a lot perilous than I expected, as the Mid-Bosses before Round 20 just didn't want to die. I ended up burning through 4 Godlies and an Elixir before Round 20. Plus, I botched the Soul Stone and only got 140% Overcharge. However, I remained calm, and once it was one-on-one versus the Dalek, it was smooth sailing. Scroll of the Avatar and the Gods started at the end of Round 19, and I had to re-cast Absorb. I used the usual tactic. Attack until PA, then Poison, then click'em to death. Holy Shit! I just noticed that he "killed" me at the end. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Yay! Scroll of the Gods! ^^:

QUOTE(Jonavrek @ Jan 10 2010, 13:38) Bringing better Mana pots was the first thing I learned on my run to Endgame. Killzone was the first time I ever used a Godly, and Endgame my first Elixir use. The high Arena run saw my first use of Shadow Veil and Spark Of Life, too. Whew. I am glad this is over. Now, it's back to quietly grinding out EXP and drops in Item World for a few months, before making a run at Sealed Power and Destined at 150.

Longest Journey Cleared!
86 9 You gain 14299 Credits! 86 8 You gain 4371.58 EXP! 86 7 Your HP and MP have been fully restored! 86 6 Arena Clear Bonus! Received: [Godly Health Draught] 86 5 Manbearpig dropped [ManBearPig Tail] 86 4 You are Victorious!
Wasn't too bad, but I did need quite a few more mana restoratives that I usually use on Twisted Plots. Those triple-miniboss rounds are pretty mana intensive.
Once I clear the rest of my arenas for the day, I'm gonna go take on Invisible Pink Unicorn.

37 11 You gain 5025 Credits! 37 10 You gain 271.55 EXP! 37 9 Your HP and MP have been fully restored! 37 8 Arena Clear Bonus! Received: [Superior Health Potion] 37 7 You are Victorious! 37 6 The effect Penetrated Armor on Manthra has expired. 37 5 Manthra has been defeated. 37 4 Spreading Poison hits Manthra for 45 damage. 37 3 Manthra misses the attack against you. 37 2 Magic Missile hits Manthra for 151 piercing damage. 37 1 You cast Magic Missile.
Used 2 greater and 4 superior mana draughts, so at least I had two items to spare. Now to grind 10 more levels before I get another challenge...

Really easy, took 5 greater mana draught and a Scroll of the Gods, because i have tons of it. I'm pretty sure i could do it on hard, because i can already do Crusade on hard without mana elixirs.

Good god, vaelh. You are a leveling monster! Grats on your first non-RoB legendary kill! You got pretty lucky to run into Konata, rather than one of the others (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif).
