Can you blame the guy? Rad and Isis were hardly even around anymore when he joined.

Everywhere? Threads don't get deleted, though perhaps you'd need to use the search function for some of it.

Not only Egyptian and classical myths have always been my knack (do you know the one about, Horus, Seth, and the homosexual trial?^^), but I'm a personal fan of beautiful women resuscitating men through more or less sexual intercourse (see also here^^) Isis' story, in particular, I find both tragically romantic and exciting. Isis has been a sort of impersonation of all-around feminine qualities for centuries, incredibly appreciated throughout all the ancient time, from people of all social extractions, at the point that some of her characreristic traits were much later incorporated in the worshipping of Mary, mother of Jesus (the iconography of Madonna with baby child owes a lot to Egyptian statuettes featuring Isis and Horus). Definitely a much nicer geddess than, say, Juno, just as Bastet is more interesting than Venus in some respects^^

Well, actually, averyone likes ancient literature - knowingly or not^^ Most of the tropes and characters of modern fiction come from there, in one way or the other. Like, what are Greek myths about gods and goddesses, if not the progenitors of modern soap-operas and sit-coms?^^
In Japan comic and animation industry is also quite eminent the presence of characters or stories taken from their myths... I mean, the Chinese Son Goku has been reprised infinite times, but also characters like Haniwa, many samurai and shinobi, and a good part of the martial artists have their origin in Japanese or Asian history or myth.

Talking about characters, I'm a personal fan of both Odysseus and Perseus, for different reasons. Female characters are harder to find, given the sciovinism of most ancient societies, but goddesses like the forementioned Isis and Baste/Sekhmet, and the wise, powerful Athena* still echo in modern fiction.
*The goddess of knowledge who crushed a TITAN under Sicily. Yes, the ISLAND O_o
