This next monster's a little late (for the season, I mean), but it still deserves a mention:



Monster Number 91, Bûche de Noël. It's the French term for Yule Log, a traditional Christmastime dessert. Commonly made with yellow sponge cake and chocolate buttercream, it is often served with one end exposed to resemble a chopped-off tree branch.

I prefer having fruitcakes for Christmas, though.

Here's Monster Number 92, French Toast:



Also called eggy bread, it's bread soaked in a mixture made of eggs and milk, then fried on both sides. It's usually served topped with maple syrup, but sugar, jam, or fruit are often used as well.

It's a great and easy-to-make substitute for pancakes.

More sweet stuff. Here's Monster Number 93, Maple Taffy:



It's a sugar candy made entirely out of maple sap. The sap is boiled beyond the point where it becomes maple syrup, but not until it reaches the point where it becomes maple sugar; just before it begins to grain.

I'm glad you both liked it. Little House in the Big Woods contains a LOT of stuff about food preparation and preservation -- making hickory-smoked ham, churning butter, and butchering pigs, for example. That's because it describes the daily life of an American pioneer family back in the 1800s, as seen through the eyes of a child.
