Actually the only similarity between them is that both dishes involve dips. Chocolate in Fondue's case.

Here's Monster Number 20, Foret Noire.

Incidentally, this cake got its name not from a region in Germany but from a liquor called Schwarzwalder Kirschwasser. "Genuine" Black Forest cakes make use of this liquor and have black cherries for decoration.

Composed mostly of chestnut puree (or pumpkin puree in Japan), Mont Blanc is not particularly photogenic. In fact, it reminds me of zaru soba.
