No Signboard Seafood's chilli crab. Probably the very best dish Singapore has to offer. I always make sure to have this every time I travel there.

The best part of this dish is that it's not just the crab that tastes great. The sauce is absolutely -- and I mean absolutely -- delicious. I always order extra mantou buns in order to scoop up every last drop.

Where do you find all these purple foods, Kuoo?

Anyway, since today is the start of the Chinese New Year, here's a little-known Chinese delicacy that's kinda purple in color:

It's called bakpia or hopia; a delicious, flaky pastry filled with bean paste. There's a version that uses purple yam as a filling, but I couldn't find a picture good enough to post. And yes, this is not my photo.

Hopia are similar to mooncakes in terms of having a bean paste filling, but I wouldn't really call them a kind of mooncake. Mooncakes have thicker, chewier crusts, and usually have other fillings aside from bean paste (especially salted eggs). They're also usually decorated at the top.
