PFUDOR DwD takes too long. 1 h 50 min with infusions, last time I tried.
PFUDOR T&T takes 20-25 minutes. High-tier mage can clear same in ~700 turns (unsure on how much time that would be).

i guess you were referring to me as the mage, so I'll give some more stats for better comparison. My clearing record of pfudor T&T is 1870 turns, 11m, with 1H; 685 turns, 6m with holy.

If you don't mind could you explain further how you spend your turns as mage?
Like after buffing up you just blast away with T1 spells or debuffing enemy then T3 spells?

in arena and iw, generally runs where i don't have to conserve mana, I use imperil on monster with their hp > 70% of the monster with highest hp (i use hp scaling to see this visually) and i will keep trying even if resisted, then T3. The percentage needs to scale with prof ratio, 70% at 2.0 and 50% at 1.0.

You can always just imperil everything like everyone else, but that seems to make my run last 800 turns. Keep in mind that NOT using imperil except in the last round with 2.0 prof takes me 800-850 turns.

ok i'm serious now. xD. I'm level 245 now, been melee from start. If i change to mage in lvl 300, i will have 0 proficiency backup. It doesn't like start over again?.

Cost is similar to 1h, maybe a bit less, assuming you don't forge. You won't be able to play on as high difficulty as you can with 1h - maybe PFUDOR as 1h but only Hell or Battletoads as mage - but you'll be able to clear a lot faster as mage (once you get the T3 spell). Holy/Dark is probably the better choice before 450.

Thank you for answering my question, I have been testing mage abit today, it wasn't exactly stable, but I suppose a little tweaking of gear/strategy would be in order since I'm not used to it. Guess I'll stick to 1h/dual for now and just do some prof for mage now and then.

Just my opinion.. go for mag max items and forge them all +5. You will have a 20k mage score in no time.

I don't quite remember times.. its been a long time since i've been melee. Probably 10-12 minutes?

Well, went ahead and got a basic cheap rapier from the ever estimable holy_demon, I'll have to IW grind it a bit now and then I'll give it a spin. I'll have to keep an eye out for a helmet and gauntlets of slaughter too.

I'd switch to holy too but its too expensive.

I got this one so I wanna play mage but I'm too poor to buy a cheap set.
