It's strange for me to be drawn to doujins parodying series I'm not familiar with, but this one has been gracing my "To Do" folder since the day I first started translating. Ignoring Eroge, this is probably my oldest Japanese translation. This is very much a "Bigger is Better" sort of doujin, though not quite to Anglachel levels.

This is sort of a special project, a "rescue operation," if you will. To make a short story shorter, I actually edited this doujin myself back when I was just first starting out, but (having NO real editing experience) the result was about two steps better than crap. What we're looking for for this bounty is an editor to either (1) redo the whole thing from the beginning, OR (2) take my GIMP .xcf files and turn crappy pages into respectable ones. Given the nature of this project, there isn't a script per se, but actual fully edited pictures with which to base your edits on.

PM me or Red_Piotrus if you're interested! As for the previous several bounties, my 2/3 hath per page bonus for good sfx redraws also applies, so get with me if that sounds good to you.

This is the third story in Fujishima Spirits 3, a decently long Oh My Goddess doujin featuring all four main characters. The art and characterization is quite representative of the original manga, which is always a plus. I wasn't actually looking forward to this one, but it really charmed me! I've always had a thing for Dragon Quest VIII's Jessica Albert, so I was happy to be doing this doujin. The art's a little dopey, and the story is a bit trippy in spots, but I rather enjoyed working on it. Editing-wise, this one slides in at 20 easy pages. Even better, we've already got a commitment from mathew1122 to serve as editor (part of the "deal" from above). It's an awesome feeling knowing we won't have to wait long for pages, so thanks again to him for that.

Curiously, this is actually my second DQ VIII translation, and my first also featured a little Jessica x Yangus action. That one may end up on the galleries soon as well, though I may wait to translate the rest of the collection it's from first. Either way, I've got at least 2 more DQ VIII doujins left in my To Do folder, so expect to see more Jessica around these parts in the near future!

Oh wow, it's been a busy week around here! First off, a round of applause to mathew1122 for a stunning performance, translating three of our doujins in less than a week. He's already on the line for more too. Bravo, sir, you are a rockstar. You can find his new additions to our portfolio here (dragonaut), and here (Tifa). His third doujin (KURIKARA, dragon quest VIII) is in the final stages of post-production and will be linked here when it hits the galleries.

Urusei Yatsura is an old series, but this little gem was too good to pass up. Full color, great art, huge text bubbles with small amounts of text... a real dream job for an editor all around. Relatively short too! I may need to look into more of Circle Taihei-Tengoku if all their stuff is this good. Mathew1122 is currently on break but has made an offer to edit this one as part of another "deal." Hopefully we'll all see it in English on the boards pretty soon!

This is the second doujin I ever translated. It's Dragon Quest VIII's Jessica Albert again, who runs into a sticky situation after she sees the Hero and the Princess screwing in the Mystical Spring. I think I was actually playing DQVIII myself when I decided to translate this one. The image quality is decent, though not sterling.

Two things worth mentioning for this one. First, this is another "Rescue the Doujin from the Shitty Edits!!" sort of editing job. What this means is that I have images with fully typeset translations already. The problem is that they suck. They suck a lot, and I should know since I did them (my salad days, I was green in judgment). I'm not even willing to post them here, since I'm terrified they might end up in the galleries some how. (Interested editors, PM me and I'll send them to you). The advantages are (1) I have GIMP .xcf files the editor can use as a starting point for cleans, etc, and (2) there's no worries about putting the wrong text in the wrong bubbles since you can SEE where it goes. The "revision script" linked above is for necessary wording changes, mostly to improve the English.

Second, as you might notice from the link above, this is only one of the three doujins in this collection. I was considering translating all three, but I've decided that I just don't like the other two stories enough to do them for free. The Tifa doujin is kind of ugly to me, while the Lisa story, while better, is about a character I have no real interest in. If someone wanted to talk about setting up a bounty for one or both of these other stories, shoot me a PM. Otherwise, I figure this one will get published solo.

That's everything, guys! I'm looking forward to getting all these, plus Weather Report and Order of Chaos, onto the galleries!

This is great stuff alearg! On the whole, things look damn near perfect. Specific notes are as follows:

page 25 and 26: Change all uses of "Master" to Mistress.

Page 27: Remove the asterisk from bubble 1. It was going to be used for a TL Note, but the actual doujin explains her effect in any case, so it wasn't really necessary.

LASTLY: This is going to be an EHCOVE release, so we need a simple, EHCOVE-style credits page.



The big decision to me is what to do about the TL Notes. I think they are valuable to the reader for something like this, but where to put them? There is one on page 3 (currently not on the page) and two on page 22, all of which are fairly lengthy. You could probably find room on page 3 to cram the last TL Note in, but it might be interesting to do them all on a separate page, where we could probably find actual pictures of the cards to go with the explanations. They would all look prettier that way, if nothing else. We could do this as part of the Credits page, in fact. If we went that way, page 3 and 22 would just need a simple "* See Credits Page for TL Notes!" message somewhere in the whitespace.

Yes, I think a separate page is a nice idea. I am always very supportive of such notes, and this is a good idea.

Yeah, those look right. I would do some sort of picture for the overlay network as well. Just nab one of the bright, swirly pictures off of the yu-gi-oh wiki (or somewhere else if you like). It just feels like a shame to have pics for two of the TL Notes but not the third.
