Unfortunately, I really don't foresee the negative karma thread going very far, Boggy.

Whereas the positive karma thread is dictated by morons thinking they're being nice by handing out green numbers randomly, the negative karma one is dictated by reason and the opinion of one idiot versus the opinion of many idiots.

Actually, you are a very minor part in it. You do, however, make a very nice and simple example of the type of tool that deserves red karmals. If I was to start off using a less obvious example, things could break down into arguments about whether a poster deserves red karmals and thus de-rail the thread before it has even gotten started.
It is classical pedagogical theory: Start with obvious examples before moving into complicated ones.

Anyone that calls them "karmals" is really not going to be part of the solution.
