When I start playing HV, I'd need a year just to get to lv. 200. Should I complain to Tenboro and suggest him to tune down new players' EXP bonus so they'd level up slower? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

And...if you can't sell your equips, you should focus more on grinding, leveling and raising your LotD. (Most) Equips' value will only depreciate.

With that logic most of the shops should close their doors until we all save up millions upon millions of credits to max out LoTD so we start getting more mag/leg drops. Hell, why even bother wasting all of those credits when I could just use them to buy what I want in an auction?

I opened mine to help out beginners and mid-level players. I've never once gouged anyone. So don't make me look like Lars Ulrich after that whole Napster thing. I support the free shops just not the parameters of this one so much. It is directly impacting small/medium shop owners. I agree that it takes too long to reach certain milestones but that is what keeps players involved. If everyone walked around with legendary everything and we were all level 500 what is the point of playing? I'm not saying this shop can achieve that but at least respect the rarity of the equipment. That's what makes ownership of it special.

Nope, the logic is that you can open a shop, but don't expect everything to sell. As I said, if your equips aren't selling, get something better to sell. It's free market, people can/should/may donate whatever they think isn't useful for them.

And TBH, they're also helping the new players, and they're not even making profit out of it. So their 'helping' is better than yours as the new players can save a few thousand credits for training/potions/downloading/etc.

Well you both make great points and I can't dispute either really. Since they're helping players I think they should open the doors for everyone then. We could all use some help every now and then.

SPOILER: a series of scattered thoughts here and there: i find a certain common theme on them (otherwise i surely wouldn't have bothered to write them) while someone could see conflict interests since i also run a shop. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) i hope the latter will be a small fraction

sir is actually right here.
i find that give a couple sup of a certain quality to a newbie would actually mean to help him, while givin' out a leg before a certain level is to pamper (when not to spoil him): from my own experience, i can say that there are plenty of things you can understand with good-but-a-little-bit-not-enough gears.
a good example is zotnios, the user who opened the 'How the hell did you get to level 204 in under a month' topic: really nothing against him, i talked a bit with him via PM and it's not bad guy, but he was given some equip from FS and he himself is wondering how he did become Godslayer and admits he has a loooooong way to go to be called so.
or another user that just made another request, why would you need two mag kataloxs when you have a destruction one? even more, considering that a couple of days ago you were a freyr mage with decent equips afterall and a few days ago i had to put him in cooldown and add a specific rule since he asked for three phases...

QUOTE(varst @ Mar 30 2014, 09:32) *

nobody is expecting to sell everything, bazaar is still a useful substitute - well, maybe not with a 5:1 price ratio, but for now it works this way - but i also find useful that a user that has to sweat to earn the credits to buy a certain equip (or else be happy enough with a demo of what he actually wants) could in the future give a certain value to equips, and understand if it's worthy to pay whatever it's needed to have a leg instead of a mag or not.

QUOTE(varst @ Mar 30 2014, 09:32) *

as above, even considering i may be only envious since i wasn't able to use any free shop at that time, i can't help but think we are helping them in the very short period, but not in the long one: if the matter is only overflowing stocks, let's start bazaaring the worst ones - oh, many thanks to whoever donated it but longsword of vampire/banshee with 1 or 0 PAB would have a good use if sold or salvaged for HG materials and use the credits/HG so earned as prize for lotteries.
in the specific case of brewdonkey, i find that his prices are very cheap, his own word is he's trying to start a process that could bring to a general lowering of prices all alone, so in a certain way he's doing very much too (not to speak about his gifs who can make a good day to everyone who visits his shop (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) )
and as for not having profits - well, animeai was very clear about this at the start, so everyone who agreed to his project can't really be pissed now.

who among mid-level, low-budget players could find an ethereal mace of slaughter not useful considering their prices at auctions? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

One thing a lot of old players are forgetting is that HV is a MUCH harder game than when most of us first started playing. The introduction of Player Owned Monsters changed the entire dynamics of the game. A large number of these are harder to beat than most of the so called bosses in the HV. All the bosses have for them is a huge HP tank - most of their attacks can't scratch us. Player owned monsters on the other hand when full of chaos tokens are dangerous...

I'm kinda neutral on how the Leg/Mag should be distributed, as I've also proposed a (harsher) solution for those equips. I just don't think the free shop should decline Leg/Mag donations.

But as I said, the purpose is to avoid people abusing the free shop, not to 'make sure that new players would know how worthy it is'. They'd know that eventually when they want to get equips of similar quality; the first one won't affect the gameplay that much. In the long run everyone needs forged equips, not just Leg/Mag.

As for overflowing equips, just keep those popular ones. Or wait till summer when there will be influx of new players. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

IMO the difficulty's about the same or even easier. I tend to read through the data; everyone's able to level up/generate credits/get equip drops much better than like 3 years ago. The difficulty/challenge mostly affects those high-level players and those low-level who want to power-level.

neither do i. my opinion is only that good-roll mags are going out pretty easily compared to the real needings of someone...

I have a suggestion. I just noticed that habbababba31 have won two prices. And to be clear, he has won, thats a fact, nothing to say about that. But to be honest. I dont like the idea, that someone alone could win all four prices. So, i think i would be better, if you can just win one place, like in the HV lotterys. But, maybe its just me, and nobody else care.

no, it's something that i and animeai discussed right after having seen it, and foresaw that someone could have pointed out.
the problem is that we didn't predict that in this sea of chances something like this could happen, so we didn't have a specific rule to avoid that. since we are trying to be as much transparent as possible we are somewhat obliged to respect them, usually changing them only after legit requests made with current rules are evaded - even if sometimes we may seem as too much tied by them.
within the next extraction we will surely modify something, resting assured (to avoid further arguments) that as for now two wins from habbababba31 are perfectly legit.

The reward table should adjust for what people actually need/want. Those which aren't frequently requested should be nerfed, those with more demand should be buffed.

quick update: habbababba31 returned one of the prizes, so it was redrawn and the new winner was Lunarika.

I really hope this has nothing to do with my suggestion. Because i dont want that anyone thinks that i wanted that habbababba31 loose one of his prizes. It was just a point i want to make.

I heavily edited the rules on the front page of the FreeSHop from "Now OPEN!" to "Request for 2 Mana Potion Packs (more than 1 Pack of the same kind of potion)".
I edited content for grammar, and consistency (ie. calling "Potion Packs" the same everywhere, and not "stacks" or "bunches").

I only wanted to make the rules easier to understand (not contradict themselves), and to be consistent.
I have a copy of the old rules in a text file if I overstepped my authority. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

EDIT: Does the script not send out potions? Do we need to send them out manually? For Example.

why would you have overstepped? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) aren't you an equal-grade staff member like me? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
i wrote what i wrote because i already knew what i wanted to explain, but noted your changes and actually it seems clearer, good job (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Yeah. The scripts kind of scare me, too. With the equipment lists being split over several posts, and being in the thousands, and such. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
I don't mind sending potions out manually, if the scripts don't handle sending out potions. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)
