imo, you can always run the free shop like a lot of the non-profit.

-give out free stuff (Exq & under)
-run auctions to sell off the more expensive items, then give a 1 time starter pack. (ie 50k credits, potions, etc).
-have a ongoing suggestion box with a decent reward for new players. it's another means to "earn" income/credits to buy stuff. ie 20 Haths for writing a new sript, 5haths for a good suggestion that improves efficiency & prevents fraud, or help another newbie out for 1k credits, etc.

i would hold off custody of items from new players. ie IW services or receiving & senting items. though, general record keeping, tracking or doing an auction might be fine.

just my 2 cents anyway.

As far as the other suggestions, you guys are on the right track. I'm not trying to act like the butt-hurt shop owner, but I am fighting to keep some value in the equipment that I sell. Just as long as you guys don't start giving away bindings and materials I guess it will keep us somewhat in business. However, now I might have to shrink my shop entirely as will others because the bulk of the new players won't be buying anything from us. Respect the rarity of the items as stated by caiax. There is no justification for a new player to own a magnificent/legendary right off the bat. Those are levels you work up to and earn ... otherwise what is the point of playing? In closing, you guys are on the right track and I'm confident you will come up with a solution that is fair and respects the current players who had to grind hard to get where they are and earn what they have.

Oh and gold star players pay the bills around here. They support the site in RL and we need them more than HV needs us. As soon as I sell my rocket car I'll be donating, too. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

1. I'm not sure why botters would have to grab things from the free shop; it's so easy to be caught...

2. Even if there's no free shop, people would still be giving away their equips to new players. It's just that the free shop can centralize the whole process. And I don't think this is affecting the economy.
First of all most players would only get 1 free Mag/Leg equips from the free shop; if they play enough they'd get to lv.150+ in a few days. Nobody's going to be a beggar just because another beggar's getting thousand-dollar notes.
Secondly, it's all players' generosity; if the free shop turn down the equips, they'll most likely end up in the bazaar, which would then be bought by rich players. That's not helping anyone, including those opening a shop. If you think nobody's buying from you shop, that's most likely caused by the equips' quality, not the free shop. People has been complaining about the free shop (for a long time), but most of the time it's because they are selling things that's almost the same quality as the common items in the free shop; those selling mid/high-end equips aren't affected at all.

3. Running auction is kinda...meh idea, as it involves pricing, choosing the equip, getting extra credits, etc. But then it does help to smooth the difference between what new players would get. The best way it can be done: let other players 'choose' from the shop. Then put the equips in those 'common' auctions. The proceeds would be given to new players.

4. Or, add another rule that new players can only get one pack of Mag/Leg/credits. They can't ask for anything else...like ever. So they can choose to get one really good equip and pay for others, or they can choose to get a set of okay equips. That should balance things out.

BTW, if you guys can't agree on something, have an internal vote. It can be easily arranged through PM/MMs. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well, 300k is all I have for now. With that you can't probably get a legendary anywhere in the shops so...yeah, here I am.

I don't know about other Godslayers but my earning is roughly 25k/day. That is the case if I play for the whole day.

No, I mean you can never get anything from the free shop if you've got a Mag/Leg/credits, and you can't request for Mag/Leg/credits if you've already taken other equips.

This is a thing very easy to notice and I share the feeling. When there never is a shadow of a binding in the bazaar and I never saw a piece of high grade wood for sale. I am not asking the panties of Goddess Snowflake, just a ridiculous piece of wood.

The simple existence of these forum shops is evidence for your claim. I ask myself if this is a RPG or a money management game.

But actually, this little game is not independent. It is a side of the main site, that is, a site publishing galleries. When one publishes galleries, one gets credits. This must be the reason behind the humongous prices and the absurd rarity of simple items.

This is a pain in the ass because we'd have to price each and every item. Any takers for pricing 2400 equips?

Get a script guy, in the bazaar simulate a click on the item, read the value of the textbox below and multiply by 5. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

it doesn't work, i tried it myself in my shop. bazaar values are based only on tier of the equip (eg leather, kevlar or shade) and their starting PXP, that means the quality prefix: going for this road would mean to price a superior katana of balance way more than a magnificent mace of slaughter, albeit the former's evident minor benefits. or again, a superior estoc of slaughter about the same as a superior longsowrd of balance... btw, even if a high-dmg mace of balance could still be of any use (i went with one of those until today, when i was able to catch a slaughter (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) i don't remember to have ever seen someone buying a longsword of balance...
you have to consider many things: number (and value) of PABs, value of base stats (especially the ones that mark out the piece (spell damages, elemental mitigations, parry, evade...) just to name a few.

in my little i'm a programmer too, i know that using them to price items should require only a dozen of logical ANDs, ORs, IFs or whatever else; the problem still remains how to value all those parameters: undoubtly if i want a shade of fleet it has to have a high evade chance, but is it better a 4PABs with small values or a 3PABs with high values? and if a 3PABs, which of the 4 is expendable? and you can get pleeeeeenty of other examples (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
