Dragon Ball Z and Sailor moon are tied for me, all thanks to Toonami.
The first anime I went out of my way to watch (renting VHS tapes from Blockbuster) was The Guyver: Bio-Booster Armor.
Still a favorite.

Pokemon. I actually used to look forward to waking up early on Saturday morning (a completely absurd concept nowadays) to watch the newest episode. Then, once Monday came around I'd eagerly discuss it with friends..."I wish there was a way to know that you're in "The Good Old days" before you've actually left them.."

Technically it was Totoro. My family tells me I loved it when I was really young, but even at the age of 6 I recall having no memories of watching the movie. Then I guess Pokemon was the first anime I really remember watching. But the anime that got me into anime after childhood was FLCL.

when i was little my parents got me a laser disk of Project A-KO 1 and 3 and it changed my life forever lol. i'm glad they didn't know it contained nudity (i was like 10 or something) and to this day its still my favorite

For me its probably Digimon. 1st and 2nd Season. Thats the first one I ever watched as a whole. I do not really count Dragonball and Pokemon since I watched them only "on flyby" when i saw them on TV, but never really intentional.
