Marine Boy. What father wouldn't allow his son to play with an electrified boomerang underwater while battling giant robot spiders, submarines and torpedoes? Sounds like father of the year material.....
Curse you, Maturity! You killed yet another childhood fantasy.
(BTW, typing with a band aid on your fingertip is a lot harder than one would think)
Dang! You're THAT old, Sim? Do you remember the DuMont network?
As for what anime I watched for the 1st time, I think it was Akira on the Sci-Fi channel. That, and other movies like 8 Man After, Project A-KO, and Vampire Hunter D use to run on Saturday afternoons on that channel.

Back in the days where the only real commercials was the announcer talking about Geritol or De Soto ... etc etc (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
That show was just so epic. I still have all the episodes. Teknoman was also just fucking awesome.
The earliest I can remember, was Voltron and Astro Boy in the early to mid 80's. I used to watch it before primary school. This is back when television stations closed just after midnight, and me and my little sister would be up before 6 am watching that pattern thing on the tv, just waiting out the minutes before the national anthem played before any shows started. Also Thundercats, Silverhawks, Inspector Gadget, Galaxy Rangers, He man, She ra, Bravestarr.
I have all the episodes of all these shows now, plus another hd full of others. I'm kinda hankering for some Robotech.
I don't remember which of the common US aired shows I saw first (Robotech, Voltron, Battle of the Planets probably) but I didn't know they were anime at the time. The first anime I saw that was denoted as such was Starship Troopers (also my first time in an anime viewing room at a convention because "There is a STARSHIP TROOPERS show???").

WGN... that's a Chicago based tv station, right? We never got that channel here in NY, even on our cable provider, Cablevision. I just remwmber it because I know they show local Cubs games on that channel.
