I remember that there was a shelf at my library that was filled with these Pokemon manga (of course, at the time I didn't know that it was called manga) and eventually one day I decided to read one of them to see what was the deal with all of these books. I ended up reading the Pokemon Black & White manga and liking it, and since then I got into manga and then anime.

not to start an argument, but you should add "of my generation" to your comment. The ones of MY generation started with Mazinger Z - which was INCREDIBLY popular in all the Spanish speaking world, having no less than four different dubbings (Mexico, Spain, and two others that my aged mind don't remember).
And just for the recor, I've also watched both the animes you mention! ;-)
