I think the first anime show that I actually developed an interest in was One Piece. I stopped right around Ace's execution, though. It was starting to drag on too long.
After that, I didn't watch any anime for years, but I got back into it about a year and a half back with Konosuba.

Strictly speaking though, it was a mix of Pokemon/Digimon/Doraemon/Inuyasha/Cardcaptor Sakura and some show called DN angel I think
