Gatchaman, in it's "Battle of the Planets" guise [didn't know it was Anime back then]

However, Macross (Robotech) later on is what identified Anime to me to make me realize what else I had seen that also qualified as such (like GoLion [Voltron], etc)

Sailor Moon...what else

Speed Racer was my first. Back then I had no idea what anime was. I didn't really know what anime was until I got into Sailor Moon a couple years later, then I was hooked for life.

I think the first show (as opposed to movie) I actually sat down and watched was Cowboy Bebop. I saw a couple episodes of Guyver and I think Dominion Tank Police when I was younger, but I never got into it so much as thought it might be something I might like to get into maybe.

But anime movies I got into before that, starting with seeing Akira on BBC2 when I was about 10.

Pokemon, unless that doesnt count. In which case, Full Metal Panic

Shakugan no Shana was my very first series.

I watched dragon ball and the likes before but I became addicted not because of that. I became a fan during the early stages of AXN showing anime like AMG, Burn Up Excess, El Hazard, Dual, etc.

I loved things like Dragonball Z and Gundam Wing as a kid, but the show that really got me into anime was Cowboy Bebop.

That and Interstella 5555.

My first anime actually knowing it was an anime was Clannad and yes many manly tears were wept that day but yea u guys know the rest

I can`t remember now if was yu yu hakusho on TV Manchete (I am from Brasil) or Digimon Tamers on SBT (Other Brasiliam canal) some years later.

Here in Brazil the film Interstella 5555 came to air on Cartoon Network and was the first movie I saw in Japanese anime style and I found the film so cool that even today sometimes I see on the internet.

My first anime is SaintSeiya! I watch it with boys.
since then, I love boy's Anime more girl's anime.
