The first title I watched knowing it's an anime was Lucky Star.
As far as I can remember the very first anime I watched was Urotsukidoji pretty long time ago (not so sure about that actually).

(Discounting what was readily-available through TV and theatre, i.e. Pokemon, DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh, Animatrix, etc.) Macross Plus. My

What really got me into the medium was a disc containing Love Hina, Death Note, and Full Metal Panic.

Funny enough, of the three it's Death Note that I don't care for anymore. Love Hina is pretty rubbish, but it has nostalgia, and I'm still waiting on a third season of FMP.

The first one that I actively knew was anime was Darker than Black and Guilty Crown. I really enjoyed these 2 and they pretty much jump started my like of anime
