The first anime i watched was Starzinger. Found it on VHS way back in 1993 when i visited some relatives in Finland. Sad thing is that it was only part 3 of the VHS set. Still have it in my collection (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Sailor Moon was the true first when I was 6, though I had yet to hear of anime.
Ignoring a few Toonami things when I was a teenager, I didn't really get into anime until 6 years ago when I switched from /b/ to /a/ as my main board and learned how to get anime.
Fairly sure Shufuku no Campanella was the first one I actively sought out rather than just making do with what's on TV.
It was a thoroughly mediocre fantasy but by fuck it sent me down the rabbit hole fast enough.

DBZ as a kid. Stopped watching anime once it ended. Got back into anime in late 2010 when I joined my High School's anime club. First anime I watched solo was Akikan. At the time, I thought it was the greatest thing I'd ever seen. Was so connected to the characters. 5 years later and I see it was nothing more than a generic harem. Don't regret watching it, but wish it wasn't the first anime to get my back into anime again.

My first anime was Grendizer: it's a 70s show, reruns continued through all the 80s where I live. I miss those simpler days of monster-of-the-week shows.
