Excluding random late night shows on TV and so on, that while are considered "Anime" weren't really a factor as I never really continued watching them (Shaman king, Naruto, bleach, one piece and so on.) I know of them, but have never really spent time with them.

My first Anime that really got me started / I went out of my way to watch however was Chobits. Sad there was never anymore later added to them, tho I do think it had a remake that I've never seen.

First one I started watching knowing it was an anime was One Piece, when I was younger I did watch Dragonball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon but didn't necessarily know they were anime.
