For me it was pokémon. Every day I got home from school it would air, and I wouldn't miss a single episode (of the first season). Glorious days.
After that it was Dragonball Z. My father, brother and I were watching it regularly. I still hate all the filler and the adverts and the "refresher" from the last episode (we know what happened, nothing happened, so let something happen this time please!).
I then remember something about Bleach, and that it was also filler-ridden. I didn't finish it, because it just got on my nerves how long you had to wait for something to actually happen.
It would probably been a lot better if there was a way to watch anime without those adverts and waiting times back in those days - DVDs would of course first release after the show had been aired.
Today, I don't even watch TV anymore. When I want to see an anime/movie/TV series, then I just get the DVD/Bluray, it's so much better.
