a few days ago firefox asked me to update to 21.0 and i did. on the other computer i use it is set to update on its own and it did.
so i have two computers with firefox 21.0 and the thing i'm about to describe happens on both of them.
they are both quite old and only have 2GB each of DDR2 RAM.
before 21.0 i played HV, both melee and maging (well i'm not maging anymore now) without problems. after 21.0 playing melee (the page refreshes constantly) firefox crashed 3 times in a 20 minutes timeframe.
i started playing with the task manager open on the side and i saw that while you play firefox's memory usage skyrockets. from 300MB to over 1100MB in about 10-15 rounds played. right now i'm playing with the task manager open on the side and once the memory usage goes up to ~1000MB i stop playing for a minute in order to have it go back to reasonable levels (yup, it takes a bit to go down).
this happens with both the computers. i don't know how the memory usage was before 21.0 because i did never check since it never crashed.
using HVStats makes the problem worse, but even turning it off the memory usage goes up anyway, it just takes more time to do so.
is it just me? any hint about how i can solve this? i don't like using chrome much.
